Who is running without Fuse 22
Discussion
Guys,
Sorry if this is a re-post as I know it has been discussed on a number of forums so many times but.......
I have been recommended to remove Fuse 22 and I was intrigued to see how many people had do so if any faults or long term negative affects had been experienced?
I know that you can have switches fitted etc but with the exception of turning it on & off is there any benefit?
Regards
Mike

40k+ miles. 39.95k of them without. Zero issues.
The switch does exactly the same thing as taking the fuse out. Except it's more expensive.
Allegedly there's less torque low down with it out. But the V8V's power delivery is such that if you want to make haste, you're rarely that low down the rev range anyway.

Thanks Guys, Glad to hear the feedback..... Just the reassurance I needed.
By the time I had received the 4th reply, the Fuse had been removed and car started to hear the tone in its full glory.
What a difference.........Now I can understand what all the talk about the infamous Fuse 22 is about.
Poor neighbors, I dont think I will get a xmas card this year!!!!
Ive had the fuse out from first day of collection on both my V12V and my previous 4.7 V8V. No problems whatsoever on the V12V but the emissions light did come on a couple of times on the V8V but my dealer never blamed it on the fuse being out.
Just put it back in for a few days every couple of years to keep the baffles free from rusting up inside.

I am able to confirm that in or out makes no difference to the torque, or power for that matter. The switch does exactly the same thing as taking the fuse out. Except it's more expensive.

Had the experiment done on the TDI dyno rig and the traces were identical.
Rick took out fuse 22 the first time I had my vantage serviced there.Ran car for two weeks with added sound effects which I loved, but the change in my driving style just to hear it dropped fuel consumption from 21 to 17 mpg so my pocket made me put it back in.Does not affect running either way.

I did not touch the fuse for the first few months of ownership, but someone posted a comment that struck a cord with me.
He commented that taking out the fuse was a good way of saving your licence. No need to rev her all the time to get that magic sound. So took out the fuse and have never looked back.

Care to publish the chart, specifically for the rev band between 0 and 4000rpm. The topic has been done to death but contradicts a) what I and others physically feel with the fuse left in and b) what has been stated as a loss of 20nm of torque between that rev band with it taken out.997c2scab said:

Get a whole tankful of Shell V Power in it. Pops and crackles even more on cold startup (at least I've convinced myself it does!)Poor neighbors, I dont think I will get a xmas card this year!!!!
Re neighbours, bumbed into the one two doors up the other week. Got told it sounds great everytime I drive past him.

you can always upload them to www.dyno-plot.co.uk ...most handy website for tuning and keeping a track on your dyno runs Am looking at it on paper and have a .pdf on my computer but no idea how to get it into this reply.

Well I must be in the minority. Not me.
I like the car quiet when driving slowly and then all hell braking loose when I open her up
I'm sorta toying with putting mine back in again. I think with a quieter car I might be a little more civilised in my driving most of the time and then appreciate the hooligan in me when I take it out. It's only a 10 second job. Might try it for a month and see how it goes.I like the car quiet when driving slowly and then all hell braking loose when I open her up
