Have a look at Dr Color chip or similar. Brilliant paint repair kits even an idiot can use. I've used them for years ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Plenty videos showing how they work on YouTube and the rear panel road rash should be fine.
Never heard of this treatment before - got to be worth a £50 punt… thanks for the heads-up…![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Chipex is a similar approach and both have good reviews.
I've always stuck with Dr Colorchip as they've gone above and beyond in getting paint codes and mix data direct fom manufacturers for special type paints for me in the past.
Here is their demo video but plenty independent tests on YouTube also

May sound silly but do these touch up kits "expire/go off?"
I bought a coded colour set from Dr Colourchip around 18 months ago to touch up a couple of little stone chips, and just haven't got round to it. It's been stored in a dark dry cool cupboard since..... should be OK?
18mths, yes absolutely fine, especially if you never opened it.... Maybe after 18years it might not be as good, but 18mths is nothing. Took it for it's MOT, passed, which then leads to the annual 'just why do I bother' internal struggle. ![paperbag](/inc/images/paperbag.gif)
I've done a whopping 1488 miles since the last MOT so decided to crunch the numbers....
MPG has worked out at 20mpg or 0.33p per mile which was actually better than I was expecting.![driving](/inc/images/driving.gif)
All associated other running cost with a few approximations works out about £1 a mile.
So while a part of me is questioning why I own something that I only use for 1500 miles a year on sunny weekends, the other side is saying it's only costing me £2k a year to own an Aston Martin.![scratchchin](/inc/images/scratchchin.gif)
I have conveniently completely disregarding any notion of depreciation

Sadly sold my V8V today. I thoroughly enjoyed the last 4 years of ownership with plenty of tips and advice gleaned from this forum which enabled me to buy and run a car I would have otherwise thought impossible. I'll have to hope it's not my last Aston.
Thanks everyone for all the input and advice which have genuinely helped make a dream come true!

Had the same thoughts the year after I bought my V12VS. Then decided that if the annual costs are the same regardless of mileage, if I double the mileage I do per year the $ per mile drop in half. I now drive mine as often as possible. (Avoiding snow at all costs and rain whenever I can) I averaged over 3K mile per year the last two years and LOVE every minute of it. So in my "Man Math" mind, the cost of ownership mile is so low I have no choice to keep it! That being said, mine got picked up today for it's annual oil change. I have also sprung for new plugs, based on age. When I get the bill, I might have to up my mileage again this year to keep my cost per mile low. ![paperbag](/inc/images/paperbag.gif)

The cost of ownership, mine has cost so much in the 2 years I have had it, I would be bonkers to sell it and lose all the investment in making the car great again!
It has cost so much that when I think about it, I actually start laughing!
But regardless of the cost, the car is now in tip top condition, and when she rolls out of the garage, and I hear the car and look at the beauty of it, the cost just goes out of the window!

That isn't correct. First off, some roads have 110km/h limits and the new National Government is planning to introduce more plus raise some of the limits lowered by the previous government.
There is also an unwritten rule that the police generally turn a blind eye on anything up to speed limit plus 10km/h so everyone tends to do that, even around town. That was even stated on their website when I moved here 20 years ago! On public holidays they lower the tolerance though.
I have traveled many of the roads in the South Island with my high end car and coffee club and we generally cruise at around the 130 km/h mark with a few periods significantly exceeding that. You just have to know where and when it is safe to do it!
Well then, I stand corrected on the 100km/h thing, but that was the case all my driving life there. I was back in NZ last year and I don`t recall seeing any 110 signage. If the cops turn a bling eye on 10km/h over then that`s certainly changed in recent years too. I`ve been clipped at 103 & 105 in the past so interesting if they`ve loosened things up.There is also an unwritten rule that the police generally turn a blind eye on anything up to speed limit plus 10km/h so everyone tends to do that, even around town. Dropped my V8V off at Martins Aston Services near Glasgow last week for some upgrades and future proofing, including new suspension, twin plate clutch, subframe refurb, discs and pads all round.
Popped in today to see how things were progressing and for an update from Peter, Alan and Chris. As always, I was made to feel very welcome and the team at Martins gave me a full tour and detailed rundown on progress to date.
Despite the car being 17 years old I was really surprised at how good/clean my car is underneath although there is some surface rust on the subframe which justifies why the refurb is worth doing with all the other work that is being done.
Great progress already so I’m really looking forward to getting the car back.

We dropped ours off for a service on Tuesday and I was having a good look under your car, mostly to work out how to paint the rear bumper mesh, was told just to mask it. I also had the tour and was lusting over the two really old ones they were sorting.Popped in today to see how things were progressing and for an update from Peter, Alan and Chris. That design really annoys me, mine need doing and I have access to free powdercoating which would be ideal for the mesh, but stripping the bumper off really doesn't appeal. ![banghead](/inc/images/banghead.gif)
