The Definitive Guide to Gaydon-era ASTON MARTIN
Discussion
Hey Grant - I am another who is highly thankful for your book!
I'm just switching from many years of happy DB9 ownership to a MY12 DBS but had a quick question prompted by your book...
In it, under the DB9/DBS recalls, you refer to "inspect and replace CCM brake discs" for 2013/14. To clarify, is this something that applies only to 2013/14 cars onwards/ for those years only, or something to be retrospectively done to my MY12 DBS?
Thanks
Dobie

A DBS.....very nice, you lucky chap I'm just switching from many years of happy DB9 ownership to a MY12 DBS but had a quick question prompted by your book...

As you will see the recall and action page lists two catagories - "Recalls" and "Service Actions", these are primarily for the DB9 and generally you will see a note (& DBS) next to the listing if it is for the DBS as well. In this case the "Service Action" (where items are sorted when the cars next visit the dealer) is for DB9, V12 Vantage S and Zagato, so it doesn't affect DBS (hence no DBS note).
Just for your information the action number is- SA-06-0229, it covers a small number (21VIN's I believe) of 2013/2014MY cars only, where a manufacturing fault could cause a reduced life span for the rear CCM discs, they were still fully servicable (hence service action not recall) but required inspection when the cars came in for service and replacement if refective.
I hope this helps, do post a photo of your DBS when you do the dirty deed, they are special cars

Grant, that looks great. Will there be a pdf update?
Hi Speedraser, unfortunately I had to stop doing the PDF updates for a combination of reasons - Amazon and Ebay got shirty about mailing customers PDF's and said no - the database got too large to handle and effectively manage, update and email everyone - time putting them together as they had to be prepared from scratch as stand-alone articles - issues with using images/ copyright - bounce backs from defunct emails, mailbox size restrictions and multiple email batches were causing problems with my ISP. I kept it going as long as I could ... but I will ensure a personal email for you on the new Vantage engine when all is fully revealed got my copy yesterday
was expecting a 40 page outline of the DB9 onward range.
WOW: this an encyclopaedic volume that i am sure AM have a copy on their selves as well.
thanks so much Grant for spending the time and a vast amount of diligence over publication.
worth so much more then the price charged.

Grant,
I gave the book I ordered recently to a friend of mine. Which means I had to order another one for myself
I just noticed something that leads to an important question: The book that came had a different cover (it was not a new Vanquish S -- I think it was a silver Vanquish) than the one pictured in your post above -- was it the latest edition? I didn't look through it -- just gave it to my friend. I ordered another one for myself yesterday and, of course, I want to be sure it's the latest version.

Hi Todd, two books I had to sit down ...you are a top man. Fear not, the Vanquish S image features on the inside first page (this is changed with each new edition) the cover is still the same, orders via the books website will only ever get the latest edition.I gave the book I ordered recently to a friend of mine. How do I get a copy in Australia?
Hi Andrew, you can order directly from the books website www.astonmartinreview.co.uk and just choose the USA and "Rest of the World" option as this includes Airmail from the UK to down under, thanks for the post Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
