ya they need to fire their marketing dept. like are they all on drugs ? or is it that LS is very disconnected/ full of BS and tells them to write it this way or else.

Looks like a great car, but the marketing phrases and LS's comments are all just nonsense.

For Christ’s sake hehe

I think that new front is about 10 times worse than the DB11.

Big shut like across the front so done away with the drama/specialness of the forward hinged bonnet? (And spoiled the lines?)

And the interior just looks like a modern Porsche’s to me. No elegance or style whatsoever.

Crap, really.

The side profile looks good as does the rear..... but that’s just mainly DB11.

I’m sure the Chinese will love it and it’s stupid gaping gob. I don’t frown

Oh Lord! It’s not a looker at the front is it? I’m hoping it’s a camera angle thing and it’s not so dominated by that grille. Looking at the current DB11, it’s much more elegant.

Interior looks good though.

I actually really like the look of the front end and think it might be even better with the grille in black when they release the sportier/black pack versions

So what time today is the big reveal? I was rather assuming it would all appear on the website at midnight?

9am UK maybe?

Tweets have, more or less, gone out 9am or 10am in the run up. Will keep and eye out.

The email from yesterday, DB2-DB11 and beyond, said the reveal was tomorrow (now today of course) evening. I guess that depends where in the world you are. I vaguely remember reading somewhere it will be at 7pm UK time but that could be completely off the mark. After seeing the magazine article it all feels like a bit of an anti climax to me anyway. But as others have said it really is a bit of a stretch to call this a brand new car. I guess new new Vantage will follow the same pattern too.

Best Regards

Well, no surprise there then. A facelifted DB11 with a revised centre console and one or two other bits (wheels, side strakes). As others have noted, it’s really a DB11.2 with the revised front end apparently designed to satisfy the key Chinese market demand for enormous grilles, and a higher tech interior as now required by all markets.

Looks great from sides and rear, because those bits are, ahem, ’carried over’ from DB11. From the front, the giant gaping chops aren’t to my taste. I prefer the looks of my elegant DB11.1 with its Aston Martin V12 engine smile

On the engine, the quote as printed in the French magazine and accredited to ‘Simon Newton, Chief Engineer’ translates as “there will be no V12 (available in this car), but the V12 will be available on ‘other models’ from 2024”.

This suggests that the new DBSS or Vanquish, presumably as usual a hotter version of this car may well feature Astons own AE31 5.2l twin turbo motor. Now that is good news. I wonder where it might be built ?

Official reveal is this evening, 7-8pm.

Car has 85% new bits apparently.

Amalgam of DB11 and DBS and the new bits.

Not a fan of the front end at all, from the side it also makes the whole front end look flat as opposed to the pointy nose of the DB11. Perhaps it'll look better in the metal.

I guess new new Vantage will follow the same pattern too.

We already knew that Richard, and also had some Mickey taking fun, about the obvious loose talk by LS.
AML simply do not have the cash to develop three brand new models, so a normal 'mid-life' face lift it was always going to be.
The cost mentioned these days by motor manufacturers is huge, requiring big sales volumes to even just recoup that money spent.

The interior changes, I like. Seems to be a good job done there.

As for the front grille. Perhaps Marek Reichmann is taking the Mickey out of us now, by producing a giant version of what we wanted on the Vantage. We can take it though.

He might be slowly realising, that the old traditionalist duffers on here, who used to be huge multiple buyers of new Aston Martins, for every buyer who gradually becomes too old, another wealthy middle age person joins the older group and is ready to buy (but only if the product appeals). Part of the Aston Martin appeal to many buyers, includes the very long tradition.

It's a much more comprehensive facelift than the Mclaren 720 to 750 considering the changes to the interior and exterion in roughly the same timeframe, so I'd have expected much more positivity

Judging by the comments from AML Marketing these days, are you sure they didn't say 110% ? - smile

If the car we see in the French magazine is 85% new, I must arrange an urgent opticians appointment, or buy a replacement hat after eating mine.

Any ridicule resulted from the statement, probably almost a year ago, by LS (they will be all-new cars).

I think Marek needs to step away from the pencil. The designs have been getting worse and worse as time goes by. The front of the DB11 was lovely, the DBS not so much, they took the worst part of the DBS (maybe even the DBX looking at the size of it) and bolted it on. The interior does look 100x better that has to be said.

Is it going to have a Honda engine?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/65682563

Looks a confused strategy to me. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. Except the race car now has no link to the road cars. Yes I know F1 is a tenuous link to road cars at the best of times, but with a different engine supplier the only link will be the AM logo.

Positivity is not something that can readily be attributed to this particular section of the PH forum I'm afraid.

I wonder if some of those who knocked the DB11’s looks may now reconsider?

IMHO the DB11 V12 was the last of the restrained and classy Aston designs and deserving of addition to the 2004-2018 ‘new classic era’ canon.

I still hope they sell a ton of the revised car, for the companies sake, but like the recent Vantage, I won’t be buying one, ever. Those front ends will not age well.

Agree that Reichmann and Nurnburgler need to step away from the pencils. Callum and Fisker they are not.

Ignoring Lawrence Stroll's grandstanding statements makes things much more palatable

I think it's shortsighted to solely focus on comparisons to previous models, what's arguably more important is the competition and this looks better so far than the Continental and Roma in my eyes. Although they're both due facelifts in the not too distant future, which might also move the game on
