Braking in T350's
Discussion
Hi all,
I have just been taken out for a spin in a 11 month old T350C from the local TVR dealership.
Awesome....and I WILL be parting with my money. However I would like some advice. I know that all the steering, handling performance etc is way different to a lot of cars but something that I would like to understand is the braking.
When coming up to a stop (hard I know ;-) ) I found that there was not much travel in the brake pedal. What I mean by this is that as soon as I put my foot on it, it moved about a very short distance and that was it. Don't get me wrong...the brakes worked but why is the travel distance so short?
I guess my question is 'Is this common on TVR's/T350's or do I need to be worried about this?'
Does anybody have any advice, similar experiences? Does anybody understand what I'm talking about?
Cheers.

Don't worry, it's just the feel of un-assisted brakes. If you want to really stop, you have to commit to the pedal - but when you do, these cars really stop. The T350 brakes are fantastic, anyone who says otherwise is probably treating them like servo assisted brakes and not putting in enough boot!
It takes some getting used to, and I find that when I get back in a modern car I am braking much too hard as I'm not expecting any 'assistance' Very good for the legs, too

They are servo assisted brakes, just with less servo assistance than your average production car.
They do take a little getting used to - i remeber on my 1st test drive I thought "blimey, brakes take a bit of effort...."
This is for control - trust me if you press it a bit harder, you'll find your eyeballs trying to escape your face. The lack of weight the tvrs have means they stop quicker than any car I've driven, despite the lack of ABS.
