Had the car since April 2003. Water sensor packed up just after it came back from the factory service at the end of January. Thought it might be an intermittent fault so told the dealership and monitored the situation. Eventually booked it in for repairs and just had a phone call to say it was ready for collection (after THREE days!!)

They are going to charge me for changing the sensor!!!!

Apparently the ancillaries only have a 6 month warranty!!!

WTF! Even a £29 dvd from comet has a 12 month warranty!

TVR... now you are taking the pi55!

So 2 years engine, 12 months bumper to bumper (with exclusions it seems) but only 6 months on ancillaries?

Thats ridiculous...

Speak to Jason at the factory, that does sound like duff info from the dealer. It is 2yr engine and 1yr everything else unless its changed recently.

Just back from the dealer... £100 lighter... and after having discussed the purchase... of a Noble!

THAT'S how pi55ed off I am!!!

Going to ring the factory as suggested.

Just rung the factory. Jason was out so I left a message. Will update you when (if!) he returns my call.

Your car has a twelve month factory warranty on the whole car and two years on the engine. Parts supplied and fitted by a TVR dealer carry a six month warranty. So if your car was 16 months old and had a part fitted this would be warranted until the car was 22 months old. Does this help? I think your dealer has got mixed up or how old is the car? Best regards.Hexhamhc.

But presumably if it had a part replaced at 2 months say and it subsequently needed replacing again at 9 months it would still be covered under the original year?

The car is 13 months old and the water sensor has never been changed.

The factory STILL hasn't rung back!

Can't believe I said I'd buy a Noballs... think an Exige, a Ducati Monster and a pickup will do a much better job!

While we're on this subject, I was told (by a dealer) that the 2 year factory warranty covering the engine was only a breakdown warranty in the 2nd year (ie. if a part doesn't actually break, it won't be replaced).

I thought that's what a normal warranty was anyway but is there any difference between the 1st and 2nd year of the factory warranty given on the engine???

Typical helpful, knowledgable input from "my" dealer (hexhamhc). Suggest you change dealers! (Well done Tony!)

Going to have to anyway, Newtown in Cwmbran are no longer dealers so County in Cheltenham are my nearest. Nice and local...only 1 1/2 hours away!!! Not too bad for servicing but if something silly goes wrong it means a day or two off work to sort it out. Unless they sort a dealer out in Cardiff I can't see me buying another one.
