I was driving this afternoon when i heard a bang then a terrible scraping noise. Pulled over to my horror the rear diffuser had all but fallen off apart from one bolt holding it on being dragged at 90 degrees to the car. It had Snapped the fibre glass between two off the holes and the some of the bolts attaching it to the car had come away with the female inner thread thats attached up in the body work.
Maybe i can get the diffuser repaired? If not has anyone had to buy one. Also i will need to take it somewhere to get new threads attached up in to the body.
I in the midlands has anyone got any suugestions as where to take her

This happened to me too! Another of one of those TVR 'quality quirks' that are oft discussed/argued over (insert own term) on PH.

Mine was fixed by the dealer under warranty. Why not give it a try, your car can't be that old yet! As to where - you might need a factory fix if there are no dealers near you to do it under warranty.

All a bit I know.

Nick YHM.

Rolex - It was the whole bolt fixture that came out leaving a clean bolt shaped hole in the fibre glass!
I would suggest all T350 owners apply a bit pressure by hand to the diffuser edge at each corner to check for any movement, It should be rock solid.

Don't blame me though if your diffuser ends up on your drive!!

Ross,
thats exactly what it looks like has happened, from inspection and my best guess it looks like the two large bolts either side behind the rear wheels have come away with the housing from the inside the car leaving only the 3 smaller bolts to hold it in place. the air then at speed has obviously pulled at the fibre glass and has snapped the fibreglass around the left hand bolt off the three which has put pressure on the middle bolt pulling this and its housing out off the car. leaving only the righthand bolt attached. By this time i had stopped, only a few seconds. The diffuser was at right angles to the car and the exhaust being pulled through the hole had snapped the fibreglass.
At least it didnt all fall of and the woman behind me run over it.

Yes the same happened to my T350c, when it was less than six months old. We were driving in a TVR convoy to Rockingham, on arrival i was told that my diffuser was drooping down in the middle at speed.
The threaded encapsulated sleeve they use to bolt into, had pulled out of the body both sides!!!!!!!!!!
As i needed the car the next day, i bolted it back myself (i trust my workmanship!!) as i am a fibreglasser by trade.
I was very cross at the time, but now i think that TVR have "as with most things" modded that part, and now i think they fit a Bracket in the middle at the front of the diffuser, the same as i fitted myself.

Erm.....now I'm starting to worry.

My exhaust wobbles a fair bit from side to side - is this normal? Dave, this bracket you speak of; can you see it through the circular holes in the bottom rear panel? What am i looking for?

Apparantly all 53 reg on should have the new bracket fitted. The fact that TVR have fitted this bracket in my opinion is an admission that there have been problems, however TVR are saying that this hasnt been the case. make your own mind up.

Anyway just taken mine to TMS, a new diffuser painted and fitted with new bracket would have been £ 850
To repair paint and fit £ 580.
Having the new bracket retro fitted maybe a good idea for all those without, or at least get that allen key out and make sure all bolts are tight

my t350 did this too, fortunately it was spotted by somebody and i took it steady.whole bolt assemby pulled out of the grp

was told it must have been my fault, so was changed a lovely £120 by the lovely (hmm) guys down at what is now Gatwick TVR, despite the fact i had only bought the 41k car 3 weeks earlier.
