I need to fit either a 4 channel amp or 2 x 2 channel as the headunit I want to fit doesn't have any built in amps (it's an EMPEG mp3 harddisc player).

Question is: has anyone fitted a separate amp(s) to a T350? If so which one(s) did you fit and where? Was hoping to get a single 4 channel amp and the only place I could think of putting it is under the passenger seat, but haven't found a decent one that is small enough. Looks like I'm going to have to go for two amps, with one under each seat.
I'm going to be using the factory speakers initially (got the extra front door speakers and the optional upgraded rears).

Anyone have any suggestions?

didnt know you could get extra front speakers.... would have got those if I did!!

I've heard of people using the 'now redundant' toolbox hatch for an amp.... in fact thats probably do with mine sometime...

cant believe they are not supplying new cars with toolkits anymore..... or at least thats what my dealer told me....

Think it might be a new thing, here's a picture of one of mine so you can see what you're missing:

They do look a bit like an after thought as they are in little add on pods rather than fitting flush, but they do improve the sound no end as the rears are a long way back and the high frequencies gets 'lost'.

Actually after a lot of fiddling with the standard stereo it does sound quite good. I was a bit surprised it could 'do' MP3/WMA CDs - but it had a problem with some of my MP3s and plays them incredibly slow (like playing 45rpm at 33rpm!)

Thought about that but I've already got a use for that... (tools). Don't think a decent 4 channel would fit either.

Yeah, no toolkit on mine and it's the one car that really seems to need a toolkit - on my first long run in mine I had to find a Halfords so I could buy some tools to fix back all the bits that kept falling off... ;-)

Likewise m'dear.

Actually been trying to get a tuner module for the EMPEG for ages, I've got a 'PCATS' one on order but they only seem to drip them out at about 1 a week. None on eBay for ages.

Feels strange now playing CDs again after so many years, but at least the standard stereo plays MP3 CDs.

I had my stereo installed when the car was being built. I have the Pioneer hard drive head unit with a seperate DAB tuner and a Kenwood 5 channel amp.

The rear speakers were installed with a sub between and a TVR plastic grill to protect the woofer.

The amp was built into the floor space in the boot along with the DAB unit.

A shelf with TVR air vents to help air circulate was then fitted to hide it.

The front speakers were built into the front door pockets using MDF for strength and using the inside of the door to breath so to speak. The pocket of the door is a bit smaller but still big enough.

The DAB ariel was fitted to the rear of the roof where it gives better reception than the one I used to have fitted on my Tuscan's boot lid.

I had a Momo wheel fitted and the remote fixed to it as well as the intstrument buttons on the back of it.

This system sounds brill and looks very professional. I don't need a cd changer as the head unit records any CD and better still records from the DAB unit which then sounds as good as a CD!
