Hi all,

Six weeks ago I stopped smoking and decided it was about time I got myself a nice present - it was a toss-up between a new pair of jeans or a fast car. Unfortunately, the Top Man shop didn't have any in my size as I have been binge eating since my last fag, so I had no choice but to go for the car.

This is where fate comes in.

I had set my heart on a F355 but decided I'd better try some other cars as a comparison - so I thought I'll try those Tuscanney things and popped up to TMS TVR at the weekend.

I wanted to try out the Tuscan S and T350 for size but on the day the Tuscan S was poorly sick. So I popped out in the T350. I was totally amazed - I expected the feeling of a hot poker up my bum when accelerating hard but the handling was out of this world.

When I eventually took the F355 out all I was thinking about was TVR - total reality shift.

Anyway, I drove home slightly confused and 200 yards from my house and in the middle of a Rover Dealership I caught a glimpse of a v. shiney blue/green car, I stopped and there was a 53 plate T350C. It's even in my favourite colour (swordfish spec). It's up for 35K with 3K miles.(Garage is Priory, Mansfield)

Anyway, I need some advice.

1) The T350 has no air-con. I'd have thought this would be a must unless you want to carry 50 gallons off isotonic refreshment. How will this effect resale etc.

2) Should I still take the Tuscan out - How different is the drive. Has anyone had both ?

3) Is 35K a good price - the car was sourced from Peter Smiths Sport Cars. Does anyone know the car (it was px'ed for a MG TF I believe!! ?

4) Anything I should know.

Looking forward to some good banter once I am up and running.

Anyone in my area....

Coincidence or wot? see my thread, I think you could get air-con retrofitted but will be expensive and mines not working!

I was told air con can be retrofitted for the same price as if ordered when new (circa 2K). Definately worth it.....just a matter of when TVR could fit it in etc. I personally couldn't live with one without it.

Try this ( I have and it sometimes works ). Tell the dealer you will take it if he throws in air-con. Might be easier than getting a couple of £K off.

No - but it could be 'fatal'.

Four points

Seems expensive - see PH classifieds
Why would anyone trade a T350C in after 3 months with horrendous depreciation for a MG TF - sounds to me like someone got a big shock and then a right spanking.
Why is it not in a TVR dealership?
Take a little time to learn about the Speed Six problems now not later - don't be hasty.

Stick with your initial choice of a F355 - you got this one right first time.

I wouldnt have said it was overpriced.... seems about average, although lack of air con might make a difference...

> Fair point - There are better priced ones out there. Chameleon paint when new costs £1800 so it adds to the final cost I guess.

Why is it not in a TVR dealership?

> Probably because they take the piss when it comes to trading in...

I used the Air Con in the Tuscan as it gets quite hot in the summer.

A MUST HAVE as far as I'm concerned.

I agree, air con is a must have for the summer, having the windows down just doesn't get enough air through

FurryDice - I agree with the comments that you should find out a bit more about this car. It seems strange to see any new TVR on another manufacturer's forecourt!

Good choice on the T350C over a F355!

I can't comment on the T350C's air-con as I have a Tamora. Similarly the only people qualified to advise you on this are T350C owners!

Good luck..... Andrew

I had a look at this car before i bought mine, as im based in chesterfield, but must admit the lack of aircon did put me off, not only from a resale point of view but also cabin heat perspective too.
Over the weekend which was fairly hot the aircon was definitely needed as Fish said windows down just dont cool it enough at slow speed.
As for the price its probably about right however if you take time and look round enough you might save £2k and get aircon.

Hope you find what your looking for. As for the F355 never been in one, but your lucky to have the choice

Most T350 owners say air-con is a must in summer, and it certainly will be for resale.

Find out the history of this car - if it came from Peter Smith ring them up and ask them about any major problems. Try ringing the factory and see if it's had an engine rebuild (unlikely but anything's possible!)

Also forget what jigs said - the engine has a two year warranty anyway, and even PAYING for a rebuild would be only as costly as a F355 cambelt change!!
