Just been checking the oil and other levels in my Tamora, but the water level is well nigh impossible to check!! Is there a way to check inside the expansion tank, like the manual tells you, as the bonnet's in the way,, even resorted to using a flashlight and a mirror, still no joy!!

Cheers

You can get an idea of levels by using the thin end of a wooden spoon. Stick it in and voila.......bespoke water level checker!

Use a transparent (or mildly opaque) flexible drinking straw. Stick it in, put your finger over the end and then pull it out (with finger still on).

If you're exact and prompt enough you can then place it alongside the tank to get a good indication of depth.

Obviously, do not suck the straw whilst attempting this procedure

Don't forget to top up again with 22/7xR^2xH cc. of coolant when you're finished though.

where R = internal radius of the straw and H = the length of the removed column of coolant.
