Good morning all!

Call me adventurous or just plain daft, but I'm planning on bringing my new T350 across to Norway for the summer.. (currently working on a prject over here....) does anyone know of any insurance companies that offer a 12 month "green Card" ?

Best offer I've had is with Norwich Union through a broker (the dont offer it directly).. and its £1350 !!

Also, while we're on the topic, any other precautions etc I should take before I bring it across? I'm planning to get the 1000 mile service done beforehand....

I took a tuscan up to the north through norway and the only thing I had to mind was potholes on the roads above the artic circle.

Other than that no probs

I used to use General Acident as they offered a 12 month green card automatically.

What most companies offer is 90 days, but try to find out if it's 90 days for a year or in 90 day blocks.

The one I'm with currently is Axia but the policy is specific in certain european countries (I'm luck as Germany is one of them) Not sure about Norway but i will check the document and let you know.

Thanks muscles - tried Axia, but they dont recognise my car!! they put me through to Axia "special" but they dont do the green card....

I think Iæ've found the only company that do both a green card AND TVR's, so it looks like I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and pay them the premium..!

There is more than 1 company that do the extended Green Card it is on a "on application" basis use your broker to source a couple.

Also GA are now owned by Norwich Union

Hi

I am based over in Belgium so I have been through the same thing. Most of the big companies will not insure for periods exceeding 90 days in a single trip which means you have to keep getting back to the UK to 'refresh' your overseas cover, and others will not give you more than a total of 90 or 120 days in a single year.

After much searching I eventually ended up with Eagle Star using their Gold policy, you will need to be 'uk resident' and have a uk postal address, but if you have family there it is easy to cover these criteria.

The other company I know of is Stuart Collins www.stuartcollins.com/company.htm and these will insure foreign nationals or expats without a UK address/residency all you need is a UK registered car.

The BIG downside is that you will pay heavily for it, my TT cost £1200 pa compared to about £550 for quotes from other insurers without this facility and Stuart Collins was about £1700!!

I am not sure why it is such a problem to get this in the UK - maybe 'rip off Britain' again, as here in Belgium I am automatically issued with a 12 month green card with my insurance without even requesting it!!

Good luck and if you hear of any other good sources of insurance I would love to hear of them

Thanks everybody - I had allready tried both Stewart Collins, and eagle star - neither would cover me becase they couldnt find a T350 on thier system!!!

I really think I have exhausted all the companies / brokers now, and I think there is only one that I've found that will do it... but I'm still willing to be proved wrong!!
