Wow! Great article too - I actually felt some of the excitement of being there just from the excellent prose. Nice one. :thumbs up smiley required:

Jammy bleeder!

I had the pleasure of being piloted round Donington in my 500 Chim by Perry McCarthy a few years back. It really is humbling to witness what a talented professional can do with a car. The overriding memory I have of the experience is that most of it was spent airborne after launching over the runble strips!

If any of you do trackdays where professionals are present, do yourselves a real favour and get them to drive your car. I promise you will learn more about what is possible in a couple of laps than you would otherwise in years. All you have to do then is learn how to do it yourself!

I was taken round Milbrook for a few laps by a factory driver recently and it's amazing what can be done if you know how.....that article summed up the experience perfectly

Done the Milbrook thing in a Tuscan Challenge with Giles Cooper, it is humbling what a good driver can do. The article at the bottom of this thread puts the experience on paper fantastically

Reminds me of a couple of laps round Bedford in my Tuscan with Martin Short driving. Makes you realise what a high work rate these guys put in what with rifleshot gear changes, extreme and frequent steering inputs, the brakes either being full on or off (mostly off) and the accelerator permanently welded to the floor. I agree with Philshort (no relation ???) if you ever get the chance grab it..........M

WOW - can we do this - ? Ted? please ? Huh? - can we do a day and 'hire' a super duper driver ??? I was driven in my car round MIRA by Don Palmer - and that was fab.

I'm currently discussing PH track days with one of the track day providers. I'm sure we could entice a couple of drivers along for demos/instruction.

I was at Donington a couple of years ago for the Motability roadshow . You got to drive the car of your choice (All slow and boring) round the track with a 40mph speed limit accompanied by a minder/nanny.
Turned out that my "nanny" was Charlie Butler-Henderson (Yes Vicky's bro) who was driving a Marcos in the Brit GT series. He suggested that he should "show me the way round". Two laps of foot flat to the floor later he had a warning from the control room!
It was like all your birthdays at once, a track full of numpties and a mad GT driver.....
Going back again in June, Charlie said last week that he will be there again. Control room, get the warning ready!

Does anyone know if the Tamora was on 16" or 18" wheels?
I know the pictures show a yellow car on 16s but I think they're just publicity photos and that that car's been respayed now.
Cheers...... Andrew

I am pretty certain they were 16 inch wheels. I saw Ben on Sunday & he commented on the tyre wear curtosy of Tiff but didn't say he had changed the wheels to 18" (their demo has always been on the 16s).

Already have a Tamora, and the more I drive it the more I love it. I was at the garage because the rear number plate keeps falling off !!!

Dougie, I had the same problem. Easy way to sort it is to use metal plasterboard fasteners through the screw holes - they are re-useable if you need to renew the plate as well. You might need to widen the holes with a drill though.

Dougie, it takes 10 minutes to remove the heatshield by undoing the 2 bolts inside the boot and the 2 underneath the diffuser (all nuts are captive). You can then attach the plate using nuts and bolts. I have found that all screws are pushed out from behind by the exhaust once it has warmed up and expanded a little.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips gents, if the dealer doesn't come up with the goods i'll try these (DIY is not one of my strengths though). I guess it's true what they say about TVRs, they are "pick up" cars, I drive along then have to pick up my number plate !!
