Has anyone out there tried to upgrade their stereo /speakers, as im sure you'll agree the sound quality is fairly poor.
If so, any recommendations welcome

I can recommend Carl Baker @ www.tvruk.tv.

After the fitting of: a pair of (larger than standard) MB Quart in the rear and a 2 way installation in the door, the sound is MUCH better; to the extent that I haven't bothered to upgrade the head-unit.

The front installation was a leap of faith. Carl suggested an installation with the tweeter firing into the cabin while the Bass/Mid was to be mounted in a custom-made cabinet within the door (ie invisibly).

It works fantastically, and has the benefit of being discrete, who want's a sodding great speaker in the door-trim?

I have photo's on the p.c. at home, if you like I can mail them to you.

When I upgraded the system in my Tamora I replaced the head unit (for MP3), installed large rear speakers and added two tweeters; one each side of the dash. I suppose due to the small cabin, the results are impressive. With this set up a door speaker would seem redundant.

Hi there,

I've recently got my car back from the factory and they retrofitted the front speakers for me.

I've also replaced the rear ones with matching Pioneers of a bigger size.

They run from a Pioneer head unit with 6-disc player via a small Phoenix gold Amp tucked away just below the glove box.

The system now sounds much better and you can cruise at motorway speeds with the roof down and listen to the music with no problem at all.

Cheers,
Nick
