Press accelerator pedal a bit more then normal, Strewth! I dident know it would go that fast! I had to brake hard to bring it back to a sensible speed, How can you keep your licence with this car?

Aren't they something to do with Sustrans and the National Cycle Network?

I have no idea. I think Nevin's right in that they're to do with local cycleways. Out here in the sticks of north Bucks we've got a lot of re-developed walkways and cycleways.
As it seems you're either in Scotland or the States, i'll pop by if i get a chance, but i'm off to London again soon for a few months.
