Boot release switch...
Discussion
Anyone know if you can open the boot manually when the switch won't work?
Bloody thing decided not to open when I was needed to fill up with petrol. Much to the amusement of the other people on the forecourt I had to clamber into the back to open the petrol filler.
Thrashed the car to within an inch of its life on the way back from Belvoir Castle to teach it a lesson but it still wouldn't give in when I got home.
I've sent it to bed for showing me up.

Happened to me a couple of times and as you say a bit of a pain when it comes time to fill-up. I was halfway into my boot one time and pulled a muscle in my neck - thought I was going to be there for hours...
The first time it happened to me it was a blown fuse. I use my cigarette lighter to power my Road Angel and the end had fallen of the lighter adapter and shorted out blowing the fuse - this should be the first thing to try - look through your manual to see which fuse is for the cigarette lighter / boot release.
The second time it was the switch itself which had come un-aligned to the badge opener thing. I crawled into the boot, if you pull down the little compartment that it for the toolkit - cd-player and put your hand over the top of it you'll find two cables, one of these is to the switch - I made the circuit for the switch cable using a fused meter connection which activated the boot solenoid - once you've got the boot open, from behind the compartment you can take off the badge button thing with a very small socker or a 'nut spinner' to realign them - just make sure you don't drop one of the nuts that you are taking off otherwise it'll rattle around for ever - or just take it back to the dealers.
Good luck.

If you use the button on the dash that disables the exterior door buttons i.e. the ones on the mirrors and the boot release button, then the boot release doesn't work until you arm and disarm the alarm system. It's a feature apparently...
Nice one! dident think of that, I sometimes lock in when travelling through inner city areas so that may have been my problem
