After the comments made on my previous thread (thanks to you all anyway) suggesting that i should really go for a Tamora or T350C instead of a "Porker" i've started to look into things a bit more indepth.

Insurance quotes....!! I know, it all has alot to do with your postcode and how much milliage etc.... but i was just wondering if the quote i got was competative.

Not asking for exact figures but if you could say if yours is cheaper and which insurance company it would be a great help :-)

My current quote based on 6yrs protected NCB, garaged at night, anual 6000k yr was 731.00 quid with Elephant.co.uk....

I've just got my renewal quote from A Manning of £773.00.

The best quote I've got so far is also from Elephant of £606. Me (35), Wife (32) to drive, garaged, milage 8000, Est Value £35,000, protected 7 years NCB, living in Essex.

My Wifes Sport KA is also with them.

I'd be interested if anyone has got any other companies worth trying.

Hope that helps.

Edited to say: I say you should get a Tamora too !!!!

was quoted £1500 by my current insurers (admiral) when I asked them. That’s for a 35 year old and a 28 year to drive, garaged overnight with about 8000 miles a year in North West Greater London. When I told them I thought it was outrageous and that elephant was £909 they replied, that’s fine we will match that as we are the same company! To be honest my current insurance is on deferral until the car comes and admiral want £150 for 1 months cover for may so I might just shop around in April when I have a little bit of time.

I was going to suggest Admiral as they gave me £840 for 4 NCB/garaged in Cheshire postcode/7000mile policy.

Oh yeah, I'm 26 and my girfriend is 23.

2nd cheapest quote was £2K+. I almost bit there hand off (Admiral's hand that is!)

Try www.confused.com - searches about 34 insurance companies after taking all your details. That's where I've got all my best quotes from.

Give Direct Line a try - I have just re-insured with them, after a major claim last year. they were miles cheaper than anyone else - e.g. last year's insurer wanted £1500, and most quotes were £900-1000. Direct line came in at £730!

I've just gone to classic line who seem very good - they know the cars and understand things!

I tried Classic line, no joy..............

I've just got a call back from Elephant asking me if I was happy with my quote of £606. I played them a bit and they dropped to £587 for the same cover. That looks like a great price but I'm not too keen on the £500 XS amount they want.

Has anyone had any dealing with Elephant ?
What are they like at paying out ?

I've been told they can be a bit of a problem.

Cheers,
Nick

I just got a quote from Sunninghill for a 2003 T350/Tamora - £1000

I'm 35, 6yrs no claims on the Chimaera, clean license (no points, ever), garaged, medium postcode (I think - the Chimaera was £600).

Think I'll call Mannings and a few others. Mannings always treated me well, I only went to Sunninghill for the track day cover as std.

Having made many searches i have to agree with Jimmyt that confused.com came up with the best price. again with Elephant.co.uk. for a 31 yr old with 6 yrs N.C.B (protected)living in Shropshire (nope i'm not a farmer...!!) 731.00. which matched my first quote with them. Never delt with them so not sure what they are like for paying out.....!!
