As per the title really. Part of me says this may be a warning system when the whole dash display intermittently flashes but I cannot find any reference to it.
Or is it a fault?

I would say fault, iffy connection maybe? try removing the dash pod and checking the connetions, also the other end of the ribbon cable connects to the dash ecu which isin the DS footwell by the welly pedal.

If its just the LCD this also could be a loose connection (you can see where it plugs in to the PCB when the clocks are out) otherwise it might be knackered

Have you adjusted the brightness and contrast on the screen?

When I was fiddling around with mine I set both to close to 100% and the display started flashing / flickering after that. I reset one or both to a lower setting and all was well...

No, not altered anything - the flashing is about every 10 seconds though and only occurs after driving for a while.

Unplug the dash ECU (in the drivers side foot well) and leave it for a few mins then plug back in again and see what happens?

With or without the ignition on?

Do that first.

Load/heat issue would be my guess. Can you hear the little fan in there? It isn't quiet.

I get the exact same issue. Did you manage to resolve it?
