Succesful remap on otherwise healthy sp 6?
Discussion
Just wondered if anyone had tried an ECU remap on a healthy 3.6 and found noticable differences in perormance and fuel economy? I read Joo's article in Sprnt (Feb '09) about Cerb V8 and it all appears quite logical, but is it a notiable improvement? Joo mentions ca. 50hp+ at full throttle as well as economy and drivablity gains at part throttle on the Cerb, but would a std T350 enjoy simlar gains?
I say you should speak to the boys down at Racing Green, for their opinion on the OMEX ecu unit they fit. I've had it done to my Sag. It was fitted at the same time as a CR box + 3.91 diff so it wouldn't be fair for me to comment on the performance (which was obviously greatly improved - but the CR box and diff would have done that themselves as well) - but I can for certain say that the OMEX unit has significantly improved my fuel economy, and also the unit manages the car much better in crawling traffic, and from hot and cold starts that it ever did on the original (Eprom-upgraded) ecu.

Unless there is something wrong with your engine then it is probably making close-ish to TVR's claims. The Speed Six is the only engine to do this, the AJP V8 and esp. the Rover v8 figures were optimistic. Joolz' work on the AJP V8 is amazing, but note that the result is often to get to TVR's claimed figures.
Back in 2005 I had my engine tuned by Mark Adams with a custom EPROM in the standard ECU. It made a reasonable difference in certain driving conditions due to my std PROM having certain data missing (Mark commented this was not normal, even for TVR). I gained some HP and some torque, but driveability was the main result.
To be honest, if you're looking to make the car faster the gearbox/diff route is probably the first place to look. This will make your car 'come alive', even compared to another 20hp/lbft. Unless as I said there is something wrong with your engine.
I can't comment on replacing the ECU with a more programmable one - I read the hype like everyone else. I am waiting to see some before/after results for what is quite a significant expenditure.

Trefor: What changes did you make to your gearbox/diff, how much did it cost (if you don't mind me asking), and what differences did it make to the performance of the T350. I've got that upgrade itch again
This has been discussed at length in the various diff threads so do a search. Std to 3.91 diff change cost me around £1,200. Another option is 3.73 ratio. My gearbox is standard, but changing the gearing is another upgrade option.
