yeah, me again!

trying to figure out the best plan of action. really want a T350T but they're way too much money right now, so I need to wait at least until after the summer I expect, maybe longer.

Drove a Tamora at RGC right after my T350 test drive the other week, and I have to say I was impressed in how similar it felt. T350 was a bit stiffer (and louder due to sports exhaust ), but the handling pretty much as sublime.

I've never paid much attention to Tamoras cos of their big butts , but I have to say, the ones I've seen in my fave gunmetal look the mutt's nuts.

They seem to be a bit of a bargain, compared to the rest of the range. How come? Is it cos they're proper convertibles, so they're seen to be less sporting? Or is it just the styling?

In terms of handling, they are a better bet than an early RR Tuscan, right? It seems for the same money (high £20k's) I could either get a 2000 Tuscan RR or a 2002 Tamora. Both already with the bulk of their depreciation out of they way, I could maybe run one until my dream T350T is under £30k and it would probably be quite an affordable upgrade. Am I right or am I crazy?

Racegirl,

I just missed out on this yesterday......

An absolute bargain, but I was second in line to see it (one day after it was advertised), but the first person in line bought it. The owner was going to trade it into a dealer but thought that he would let one of us take it for the same price instead. Gutted I missed it, don't see many 6 month old T350's for this price and probablt won't see another for a while.

You are right, from what I can make out it's entirely down to the styling that the Tamora has been a low seller. There's an interesting piece in Sprint this month saying the same thing. Certainly in terms of handling they are as good as if not better than the Tuscan - I assume because of the aerodynamics, shorter overhangs, improved PAS. etc. I've encountered a well driven one on the track and it was the quickest TVR on the day, and that included Tuscans, Cerberas etc. (although pre T350). It seems they are completely forgotten by TVR aficionado’s – e.g. you never hear of anyone fitting a rollover bar to one, yet that would stiffen it up in a similar way that it does when fitted to Griff’s. The cockpit is the same as the T350, and once you are inside you can't see the rump! I've always liked them but only in the right colour – I once saw a very nice jet black ones with red leather.

Yep, me too! I called him the evening before the first viewing, but it was already 'good as gone' to someone who'd put a deposit on before seeing it.

BTW, I'm not racegirl, I'm girlracer. racegirl is someone else.

edited to say: I am test driving this tomorrow:

I think the painted diffuser helps with the look of the rear end.

yes, but I've been married to the same bloke for 7 years!

Basically, car wise, just striving for that perfect compromise....

My current car (350Z) actually almost has it, but it's missing the factor that TVR's have. Still 50/50 whether I'm going to stick with it and go the supercharger/sports exhaust route (an extra £5k and I'd have 360bhp and a 4.4sec 0-60)... on paper great, but will it thrill me like a TVR?... It's a great looking car IMO, but I've only washed it twice since I got it in Nov. I think that says a lot about how emotionally attached I am to it.

The car that pleased me the most was my Tuscan, except for the dodgy handling, so I'm really hoping a more sorted TVR might be the answer.

Looks nice, was down at the TVR Centre a month or so ago and didn't see that in there.

I am tempted by a Tamora as I love the having a soft top but am getting seduced by the looks of the T350c.

Looks wise I prefer the facelift versions with tweekd front and back lights. Also agree that the painted rear diffuser makes a big difference to the looks from the rear. As for handling the between the two of them is slight (apparently) and not enough to influence my decision too much.

If I've got time I may be down there tomorrow afternoon for a closer look at what they have in stock, so if I see someone in that Tamora I'll say hi and we can both whinge about the lucky sod who got that T350.

As you are London based are you coming along to the Ace Cafe tonight?

I'm not up to speed on the differences... when was the changeover?

Don't know the full list of changes with the later cars but the ones I do know are... Front fogs and indicators are different, rear lights have been moved down slightly, don't have the black tape (best I decribe it) highlighting the vents on the bonnet, rear diffuser is painted, think they had a different version of software on the dash display, and the constantly tweeked engine. My take on it S6 debate is later the better for piece of mind.

But they are all fabulous.

Come along, first Friday of the month is now TVR night at the Ace and now the official meet of the Middx TVRCC region but loads of other TVR's from the surrounding come along. Believe that so far it has averaged between 30 and 50.

The facelift cars also have better seats and more elbow room.

Ever since I saw that Japanese track rave of all the TVRs I want a black Tamora!

They do look the mutts and a true convertible!

Just add a sports exhaust and there you have it!

I hope to be in one 1 year from now...

They are great!

Stop wondering I bought one 6 months ago and never looked back. OK I have never had a TVR before but I tell you what they attract a lot of attention and they are not as common as the other models.

agree with you all! Just got back from a nice long drive in the TVR Centre's demonstrator. To add to the fun it was raining really hard, but even so, I felt more confident throwing the car about than I ever did in the Tuscan, and strangely I was taking corners faster than I even do in my traction-controlled air-bagged Z. I guess it's just the thing of having so much feedback.

In short, I absolutely loved it. Not a lot different to the T350, except I can afford one!!

Thought I saw a 350Z in the car park this morning at the TVR Centre, you must have been waiting to get into the grey Tamora after my test drive this morning – hope I warmed it up for you ok! I have the similar dilemma – really want a T350T but don’t want to suffer the depreciation so I need something in the interim until there are a few 2nd hand choices in the autumn.

My first drive today in either the Tuscan and the Tamora. I have driven few cars with the sheer sense of occasion the Tuscan inspires; individual, flamboyant and one of the sexiest looking cars on the road. Surprised how delicate all the controls felt, much easier to drive than expected though when delivering the power when not quite straight or under braking into a bend you could feel the lateral movement at the rear – not a problem – more of a quirk, but a contrast to the Tamora driven back to back in the same situation. I only had a short drive in the Tamora but within a few minutes I felt so much more at home – I described the handling more like my old Elise, very sure footed, great feedback and the chassis felt more composed - I think I would not have to work the Tamora as hard as the Tuscan over the same B road. The cabin felt more subdued and the overall look doesn’t stir the blood like the Tuscan.

The T350T represents my perfect choice – looks, Tamora-like handling and open air. But until then it’s a tough choice - my heart says the Tuscan but my mind says the Tamora!

Just traded in my Tuscan on Saturday for T350c.
Handling is unbelievable compared to tuscan, very like my old elise. For driveability T350/Tamora completeley out guns Tuscan, although Tus is beautiful, there is always the chance of loosing the back end, even in a straight line!!!
T350 is a new concept altogether.
PS. Completely played with a brand new 3.2, bright orange Audi TT on motorway this afternoon. No chance!
