Having read about 18 pages of the forum can anyone answer the following?

What are the main niggles people have had with Tamoras? (I have found the ECU one and the water in the doors one)

By niggles i dont mean dropped hinges etc I mean where a large percentage of owners have had the same fault.

I have owned 2 TVR's in the past an S2 and a Chimaera 430.

Can the Factory engine warranty been renewed after 2 years?

Thanks

Jeremy

There was at one stage say about April/May 2002, that people began reporting problems with the Windscreen misting up constantly on the drivers side. A number of owners had their windscreens replaced to try to cure this problem.

Thanks for that

That reminds me do they steam up as bad?

Or have the Factory sorted it?
Is Air con a must?

Had mine for a year now, a few minor niggles in the first couple of months and a couple of paint faults and thats it. I also think the looks of the Tamora grow on you more and more. I love the car and it never fails to make me smile and turn lots of heads.
I have no aircon its not a problem for me. it does mist up a bit but the fan is good and the heater it very good so it does not last long and in the summer you will have the roof off anyway. Get one they are great fun.

Nothing major since I bought it in July, water leak on window seals but now fixed (Doors re-hung) However the speedo unit has to go back to TVR because of a fault on it (Dials work intermitantly). But other than that I just love it and so does everyone else I know.
Still smiling !

agree. if you like it, get one.

I've had a door seal come adrift and a rattly door - both sorted myself.

Apart from those small issues I'm very, very impressed- so much better than the Lotuses I have come to know.

cheers

Worth keeping an eye out for gaps around the driver side window. Most of the other problems (like the roof panel being too tight for the boot) are resolved now.

Thanks guys

Does anyone know if the factory will offer a renewal of warranty after 2 years?

Is the roof harder to stow than the Griff roof? Not that it really matters once you have the method its easy.

Also the steaming up problem of earlier models is sorted?

Thanks

I think the most comprehensive list of problems in the early cars is listed in this thread:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=7&t=13015
Most of these have now been fixed.

On mine the only problems I had was overheating due to a small hole in the radiator and the doors needed rehanging as they were scraping slightly. Both fixed under warranty. No leaks or anything like that to note.

Cheers,
Iain

I've had two Tamoras now, and the common problems have been:-

No ashtray (on either car!!)(There's a hole, but TVR forgot to fit the ashtray itself!!)
Speedo sensor fell off leading to dials not working.
Rear edge of bonnet catches on O/S windscreen wiper arm.

Err, that's it, sorry!

However, my first car had loose valves at 6000 miles, sorted under warranty. Cracked windscreen. Doors sticking (cured by Joolz). Roof a tight fit into boot. Water in footwells cured by re-sealing door seals with silicone. Roof lifting off because windscreen not replaced properly. Err, rather nasty crash, resulting in car no.2.

Second car - New clutch 3 days after purchase (Thanks, Rob...)
Fan relay failed, so car overheated.
Condensation above instrument pod - I'm living with it.
Roof fits much more easily into boot.

In short, mechanically perfect, electrics 90%, niggly build problems, but all liveable.

Don't worry, these are good cars, and the engines are no worse than any other highly tuned sports car engine - use common sense and you'll be fine.

I had a real problem with colour. I went for Relex Green in the end and I am very happy with the colour. I do like it in red though. And you have to have 18" wheels.

If you're more botherd about looks than ride or handling.

I have driven both 16" and 18" and I prefer the more direct feel of the 18" AND they look better. If ride and handeling were a big issue on the 18" they why would they put them as standard on the T350's.
