My girlfriend is soon going to replace her Audi cabriolet and is looking at more sportier alternatives ( which is not difficult ). The Tamora is currently on the list.
Now, it may seem daft having 2 TVRs (I already have a Griff) but why not?
Doubt we'd buy new, probably try for a sorted second hand. What sort of money is a minimum? I know all about the "Speed 6 reliability" issues but aren't the newer 3.6 litre units more sorted.
Leaks seem to crop up a fair bit on this forum. Odd as the Tamora shares the same drop down roof design as the Griff and mine never leaks. Is it just a case of some having poor fittings?
Any other advice on buying well received

I love my Tamora and have had plenty of other things in the past. Mine doesn't leak at all (I may just be lucky?) and is so much more practical / reliable than the elises I ran before (so far!).
I bought a 2002 model from a dealer for just under 30k about 2 months ago. I think 25-30k is the going rate - mid twenties for a private sale.

Mine leaks too ... they don't have the A frame that the glass slides into on the Chimaeras and Griffiths, so the glass and rubber gromet sit on the rubber door seal ... it just doesn't seem to work. I've had a 2002 and now a 2003 model and they both leak in exactly the same place. Other than that they are bloody great fun, and even better with the replacement exhaust so that it makes the right noise.
Hi Dave, I really enjoy my Tamora - even more so than my Elise. As you are already in the TVR stable, you will understand.
I have had a few leaks through the A-pillar seals (easily rectified) and a badly put together drivers door, but all is now fine. No mechanical issues.
Just let the car stand in the rain - that is specific, (not hoses or driving in the wet) for a few hours and you will know ;-)

The only leaky areas are the door seals, which is covered in the current thread on the subject, and the window seals which rarely fit properly, so there's a gap at the top rear corner of the window.
Other than that, it's a great car, and the hood is better than a Griff/Chimaera hood, as it folds down to the level of the bodywork. There's a lot more legroom, especially passenger side, and a proper glovebox!!
It is also a very fast car, and may well embarrass your Griff in the twisties, and probably on the straights as well!!

So the Tamora doors are totally frameless and can suffer as a consequence?
We will really need to test drive one. Never driven a Speed 6 but I can guess it will be a bit harder to launch than the Griff due to less low down torque. If you believe the figures a Griff will steal it to 60 then it's over to the Tamora. I have no doubt the Tamora is a much faster car point to point.
This weekend we are trying a Seat Leon Cupra R. Seems a lot of car for the money. Girlie isn't keen but she might come round. Oddly enough they won't let us out in it alone, which I find a bit odd. Last year Vauxhall kindly gave us a VX220 Turbo for the weekend - no questions. Excellent car but not for us, after 50 miles or so we'd had enough of it's basic charm - rather like sticking a couple of jet engines on to a park bench. The Griff seemed to have a GT feel to it in comparison
