Had an urgent phone call saturday from the wife who was out in her Tamora. The conversation went something like this!

F***ING TVR'S..The car is on fire and I,m sitting in it on the drive and can't get out!!! Why not bab? (trying not to laugh)...phone went dead...went back to my beer

O hello again everything OK? No it's ******* not!! I've just had to take the roof off from inside and climb out (much to the amusement of our neighbours)

Oh why didn't you pull the red lever down the side to manually open the door? Anyway has the car gone out?

Next day---Sheepishly turn the key.....Bursts in to life as usual . Took it for a long drive and there were no problems at all ...well apart from the speedo not working as usual.

Any idea's what the smoke and dead electrics was about anyone??? Will phone dealer tommorrow but it would be usefull to know if anybody else has experiened this

Steam coming off the exhaust? happens on my 350 when it's been raining hard

Sounds likely but the dead electrics are a bit worrying.

Sounds like the speedo sensor has fallen off - it happened to my old one, and my new one! Get the dealer to sort it (10 mins work).

As for the steam, the only other thing I can think of is overheating, with steam coming out of the pressure relief cap on the filler neck - it is designed to vent excessive pressure to prevent head warp/head gasket failure.

Lastly, TVR electrics, huh? Aren't they quirky....

thanks for the info

I don't think the smoke was steam though---she still swears there was a smell of burning---guess it will be difficult for the dealer to diagnose now all appears to be working well

Simple rule of thumb for future dramas:

Whatever a woman says... divide it by three and you're somewhere close to the truth.... unless she's talking about your tackle... then multiply it by three!
