My Tamora has two interior water leaks, despite two trips to the dealers and replacement of various seals. Before we try again has anyone come across these ?

1. Outer edge of carpet in passenger footwell gets wet. But, apart from the dampness in the carpet and along the groove in the floor everything else seems dry. I can't find any leaks/holes anywhere.

2. Drivers door inner 'skin' gets wet, especially at the base and inside the pocket. Dealer has taken door apart twice and it still happens.

Has anyone come across these in their Tamora, or have any idea where I might start ?

Thanks

there were some posts about the mats being wet somewhere in the past. I seem to remember there was a fix involving silicone sealant, but never tried it myself. Mine leaks there too but I try to treat her to dry days at the moment . with regards the inner skin dampness i have no clue, except that the seals at the base of the window on the door may not be right.

I have suffered with the passenger door pocket getting wet and found (I think) the reason. There is a black rubber section on the front end of the chrome section of the (Inside)door. On the outside at this point and just along the bottom of the windscreen the seal was not complete. I got some clear waterproof seal and ran a bead along the rubber including where it overlaps the door.
As for the floor well I'm still trying to find why I have a swimming pool in the rear passenger footwell.

Sorry if my description is protracted. If I can be of more help just ask.

Steven,

I had the same last weekend and I remember reading this thread of the plastic plugs at the bottom of the door.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Paul

Thanks for the responses. I removed the plastic plugs when I first got the car. As it has rained all weekend I have experimented to work out what is happening by placing tissues and towels in specific places, and I think I have sussed it, though I will not really know until I have tried the fixes.

So far as I can tell water is running down the A-pillar and getting into the car. On the passenger side it seems to be coming through the seals at a carpet join. On the drivers side the water is somehow getting past the seals close to the door pocket.

As I have tomoorow off I am popping to the dealers to tell the what I feel needs fixing.

regards

The plastic plugs make no difference - if you look at the bottom of the doors, there are drain holes separate to the plugs, which are just blanking plates over the screws holding the door card.

Water in the footwells comes from water running off the screen, down the front of the door apeture, and spilling over into the car, instead of running away to the outside. This is becasuise it gets under the door seal where it sits on the door apeture "flange".

The treatment is to pull the rubber seal off, from the top corner of the roof seal, down to where the seal turns the lower front corner of the door apeture, then run a bead of silicone sealant along the outer edge of the fibre glass, and press the rubbder seal back onto the silicone and bodywork. This prevents water getting under the seal and running into the car at the bottom front corner of the door.

I've done it, and it works very well.

Hi everyone, thought I would update in case anyone else has these problems.

1. removed seal, added silicon sealant and replaced - this cures it.

2. Off to the dealers, so far as I can make out the drivers side seal is the problem and need replacing.

regards
