Thanks to Tim Lamont at ACT and the guys at TMS my Tamora now sounds as good as it looks. Having listened to nubbin's car when it belonged to Rob M, I had to have one. Best money I've spent in a long time.

The one thing I missed when I swapped from Chimaera to Tamora was the sound of the V8, but this sounds even better, but it has to be heard and felt in the flesh so to speak.

No, it's just a replacement back box, with larger diameter exit pipes. It now sounds very much like a V8 at low revs, and there's loads of pops and bangs on the over-run! It's £350, IIRC. Well worth it!

Do you have the contact details for these guys and exactly what to ask for? Also would anyone advise doing this to a brand new one or will TVR object?

thanks

I asked TVR at the factory and they said it will effect the warranty...

Mine's an 03 car so still under warranty. No-one mentioned invalidating any warranties and it was dealer fitted so I assume someone would have mentioned it. Also I still have the original and it only takes twenty five minutes to swap it over ... so think! Anyway, the noise is so much better it's worth the hassle.

If you want one, and you'd be mad not to, contact Tim Lamont at ACT. The only thing you have to watch is the angle of the fittings for the rubber mounts .. they're not all the same !!

Hi JJ, I assume you noticed the name change. Nothing to do with worrying about my number plate being identified, it just seems a bit impersonal and unintersting. Anyway, keep your ears pinned, I think this is now louder than yours.

By the way, what do you drive when the Chimaera's in the garage?

A Red Audi A4 - with similar number plate, just ends in 55 rather than 50 which is on the Trev.

The guys at ACT told me that fitting this exhaust is a simple job, and that a couple of customers have fitted it themselves... Anyone on here? Is it really that simple?

Yup, it is that simple. You need a couple of axle stands, undo the five bolts that hold the rear difuser on, remove the metal heat thingy. Disconnect the back box from the two exhaust pipes and loosen the rubber mounts and its off that simply. It took all of half an hour.

The only problem was the angle of the mounts for the rubber supports. There are two version, so you have to be sure you get the right one. Originally mine was wrong, so I took the old one off, offered up the new one and found the problem ... muttered a few oaths and put the old one back on.

Tim had the exhaust collected and the brackets modified and TMS put it on while they were servicing it.

Anybody know what effect this option would have on track days. Is it down to the noise level for each circuit??

You already had me filled with fear at the mere mention of axle stands...

Think this might be a job for someone less mechanically incompetent than myself...
