T350C wind noise....?
Discussion
Now had my 350 approx three months and to be honest the car is absolutely superb - ie this post is by no means another poke at TVR build quality etc ......
Before I take the car back to the dealer just thought I would canvas opinion as to the wind noise I'm experiencing on my 350C [It's a 700 mile round trip for me !!]. The noise is from the drivers side front window [the passenger side is absolutely silent]. The 'fit' of the drivers door and the passenger door appears to be different by about 1/2" at the front where it mates with the corner of the front windscreen, thus causing a 'hole' of approx 1/2" diameter. Coupled with the fact that the glass doesn't fit under the protector on the A pillar [passenger side does fit under], seems to cause the glass to lift off the seal quite dramatically at speed. The door is placed correctly both vertically and horizontally - it seems to 'stick out' 1/2" wider than the passenger door at the front right hand corner....!
Up to legal road speeds the wind noise, although a bit annoying, is acceptable - however when 'giving it some' the noise really does become fearsome !!
As I think there may be a good chance I will get the standard 'they all do that sir' response from the dealer, and based on the fact that it is a long journey to the dealer if there isn't a fix, a bit of background info wouldn't go amiss !
Questions ;
1. Is the door/window fit different on driver/passenger sides on all 350's ?
2. If any body else has had the same problem, what was the fix ?
Cheers
Colin.

... I had the problem from new (once the window closed outside the runners and marked the roof edge).
Dealer did fix it as it wasn't relasing properly either from the inside. Made it much better but not perfect as the passengers side appears to be.
To be honest is starting "to go" again but isn't bad enough to warrent a visit to the dealer until service time.
So yes "some of them do that" and yes "dealer will have a go" at it

Same problem from new. Nearside window butts up nicely against the A pillar but the offside glass is set 1/2 inch further back and wind noise is moderately tiresome. I guess the position of the runners inside the door is a bit approximate. Dealer twice declined to dismantle door, saying: "The last one took me 7 hours"(!!) I haven't (yet) pressed the dealer as the nearside door sprang a bad leak (fixed by repositioning the rubber sealing strips, and thanks for the new carpets Peter) and at least my side is watertight. And in any case there's still some wind noise around the leading edge of the nearside glass. Fiddling with the position of the glass might not have a big effect when the rubber seals are so crude. You can't have everything . . .
Hi Colin,
if the door hinges are anything like a Chimaera or Griff, then one of the adjustments is made by multiple U shaped shims on the door hinge bolts that control the spacing of the door to the body.
Removing 1 or 2 of these from the top bolt may help your fit - note you will need a friend to help, as you need someone to hold the door in the right position while you tighten the bolts back up (you only need to loosen the bolt to remove the shims)
Not a hard job, but can take a little while to get just right....
