Sorry Nubbin - but topic re-opened, by T400 are you meaning the upgraded T350? I ask because I thoguht the T400R & T440R were both Tuscan derivatives. if so fine, if not you have not answered the question about the "lightweight/upgraded" T350C/T.

p.s. I have never actually seen TVR refer to a T400 as such? Rich...

Yep thats confused me as well.

T350C/T
T350C/T Red Rose

Both of these are based on the T350

T400R
T440R

Both of these are based on the Tuscan R.

The car Tivster refers to is a T350 with the performance pack (the content of which is well documented by the man himself). However his knowledge didn't extend to the body shell construction which is, as Nubbin says, made of Vinylester so now that's clear.

As for the T400R I have no idea as TVR seem to be giving all their current models the same name

Theres still ambiguity.

The T400R is a 4.2 400bhp with a different construction method, as seen at the back of the TVR stand at last years motorshow.

If we are saying that the T350 Red Rose is the same no worries but it would be nice to be able to clarify.

The T400 at the back of the stand was a Tuscan derivative, not a Tamora/T350 derivative.

So I'm not really any clearer!

Yeah thats what I meant!

The one on the Tuscan R platform.

Obviously different construction, looked like CF

This is getting silly.

But the T400R/T440R is made of carbon fibre. So lets speculate as follows:

Griff/Chimp/previous generation TVRs - old heavy GRP,
Tuscan/Tamora/T350 - GRP but with hollow matting (lighter than above - as stated by TVR circa 1999 Tuscan development)
T350 'Tivster' upgrade - Vinylester (50kg lighter than above)
T350 WB - Vinylester?
T400R/T440R/T550R - Carbon Fibre

Bloody hell, mountains and molehills!

Sorry for the confusion - by T400 I meant the T350 with upgraded engine, brakes etc., NOT the T400. I shall go back and alter it!

Nubbins post didn't tell me anything I didn't already know as he's only referring to the T350 Upgrade. The speculation is more around the new 'Tuscan R' derivatives and the new T350C 'Cup'/Wide-Boy or whatever they're going to call it.

So I'm speculating that the wide-boy is going to be Vinylester and that they are building a limited number of T350 Upgrades using the same construction in order to pass any GT regulations?

Then again what do I know, I don't even have a TVR

Oh contraire.... my knowledge about the construction is what started all this off... I didn't post it everywhere cos I didn't have to...

Do you really think I'd hand over nearly £50K without knowing what I was buying? Sure it was difficulty to obtain the exact specs to begin with and I put that down to the usual TVR traits re communication. Once I'd found the right person to speak to then all was solved and certainly to my satisfaction.

If only they kept the policy of names rather than number codes, e.g Tuscan R, Tamora countryman R

Just seen Teds response to your Humble Pie thread, as usual Ted put it better than I ever could.

FYI I never doubted you for a minute (I knew in June about the vinylester body), I just thought you sounded such a pratt I'd give you an opportunity to demonstrate it beyond reasonable doubt - thank you for accomodating nature
