Just had a call from TVR. My T350c has accidentally been made into a T and has been painted (it seems very silly but knowing the history of the order its quite feasible).

They're asking me if I'd like it as a T but for half the normal cost (£1k instead of £2k).

I don't know what to do.

See how many goodies you can get from them, do you know if it looks any good with holes in it?

I would have hoped that they wouldn't charge you anything. After all if you decide to take it you will be doing them a favour otherwise they will have a spare car on their hands that no one has ordered.

Well, not quite, they'll just stick a new body shell on and paint it again. Will just mean it will be a couple of days late.

I've never really like the Targa but funnily enough I was talking about it with someone the other day and I said "Yeah, its quite a cool option but 2 grand!? Maybe for half that...."

And now here I am in that very situation

Cheers Rod, that's what I'm going to do. Wanted to get some opinions though also...

There is an added bonus - if I don't like the colour I could get them to paint the C a different colour at no extra cost! (Still having sleepless nights about it!)

Neil, what colour combo did you go for?

Halcyon Space Blue Pearl paint. Interior is a combo of Navy and two greys (one light the other medium, can't remember the names now!)

Doubt if you will be changing that colour combo, sounds lurvely. And you know that when you see you will just have to take it there and then regardless of what roof it has.

Must admit that the T's are growing on me but yet to see one in the flesh. May take a run out to Racing Green tomorrow to check one out. Choice of that or a Tamora me thinks.

Have to agree with Nubbin here.

But to be honest I did see the T350t for the first time in the flesh at the TVR Centre earlier this week and it looked a lot better than I had thought from the photos.

You guyyyyyys....

I dunno. The biggest problem I have is that I'm not convinced I'd get that much use out of it with the panels off and it seems a real pain in the arse to stuff two great pieces of carbon fibre into the (already) limited space in the back...

And what about parking up in town or whereever? Do you T owners put the panels back on or leave them off?

Still gonna wait until I see it but I'm currently sitting on the fence, leaning dangerously over the C side......

Cheers for the feedback everyone. Factory on Monday so we'll see

The panels apparantly go vertically behind the front seats so don't use any room. Leaving the panels off while parked would take the same decision you would make when leaving the roof down, so depends where and when etc

I saw my first T350T today at my dealers and I was very impressed.

Good luck with your decision !

Cheers

Unless it looks like it's gonna ps it down or I'm going to be gone for hours I leave them off.
No probs yet !

Rob (Rods) has very kindly taken me to Harrogate a couple of times in his T350T, and whilst it is a superb car, it is NOT the same as a full soft top. It depends what you want - the Targa gives much the same effect as using the Tamora with the roof panel out, and rear section up - more buffeting and wind noise, with a feeling of being enclosed. The Targa does have better headroom though!

The decision therefore, should, to my mind, be based on the overall look of the car, and which shape you prefer, as well as the hard top vs. soft top argument.

Does that help?

What are TVR going to do if you say you'll have the T for the same price as the C - fibreglass the offcuts back in?
Just say thanks very much and take the T IMO.

Well they said the offer of me paying £1k was because the carbon panels are so expensive to manufacture (got me, I've no idea how much they'd cost?)

After consulting friends and from comments on here I think I'm going to have a look at it on Monday, if I like it enough I say Yes, but for no extra charge. No way I'm paying for the extra.

Its kind of growing on me now (or am I just kidding myself because I want the car so much! ) A quick question - I've seen pictures on Sleepy Fish of (Ricardos?) Silver T with unpainted panels. Is this the option you get - painted or semi-clear? I think that option looks quite good and could help get some light into the admitedly cramped cab. Anyone know?

Cheers for all your advice everyone.
