Hi all

Am thinking of changing my Chim 450 to a Tamora. Seen an 02 reg which looks interesting but it's on 16" wheels and I'd want to get 18"s. Have searched through old threads and want to confirm that:
1. The best (only?) place to get the 18" wheels is from a dealer and all in with tyres they're about £1400??
2. Does this earlyish Tamora need any modification or do they bolt straight on??

Thanks
Si

You must be trying to save money - the vast majority of Tamoras are on 18" wheels and I doubt you would save much after buying some 18's.

What sort of money are you thinking of? I've been into the market recently, and there are very few under £30,000, and most of those are the old, or bad colours, or high mileage etc.

I was looking at this car -

and it would be under £30k, as the dealer is DESPERATE to get rid of it. It's a July 2003 model, so if you want a real bargain get to their website and make them a stupidly low offer, which they will accept.

It's not in an Audi garage by any chance and REALLY cheap is it? Spotted one yesterday which seriously made me reconsider whether I could stretch to one!

It sells all sorts of prestige marques. I know the car is clean, one owner black bison interior, about 5000 miles. Go for it (if it's still there, they were going to put it into the trade!)

Hi DJ

Yep that's the one - cheap is hardly the word for it!

Thanks for the info Nubbin. That one in London certainly looks good and would be a good price for a facelift model.

Just got to work out where to get the money from now

TI,

No, I suppose 'cheap' was the wrong word, without qualification. 'very competitively priced' would be more accurate! If they'd negotiate slightly then that'd be older Tuscan money! Good luck searching. On the plus side, 16's are supposed to make the ride better (or so they say).

There actually isn't a lot of difference in the ride quality between 16's and 18's - I've had both - but the track performance is something else - the 16's are a death trap on a track!

The looks are so much better on the 18's as well, and are very important for resale value.

My advice would be, don't buy anything on 16" wheels, unless the price is so low that you can use the money saved to get 18's put on.

There is a set of 18" wheels in the Tuscan classifieds. So, A 2002 Tamora from a (non-tvr) dealer with 6000 miles, plus a set of larger wheels for 27,500 before negotiation.
Good deal?
