Hand-over Checklist Idea
Discussion
Had a thought last night. What about putting together a check list of stuff for people who are due to take delivery of a T350/Tamora. Seems to be a lot of info on this board that might make someones experience a little better when accepting their new car and make pre-first service driving a little more trouble free and enjoyable. Of course there are some obvious stuff that you'd apply to any new car but the T350 also has a few little special "quirks" of its own...
I'll volunteer to be the first one to try it out in October
Seriously, anyone think its a good idea and want to contribute? But no "Cancel the order" type comments as thats just not constructive now is it?

Righto,
I'll get the ball rolling then but I'm only posting from evidence on this board. Maybe more experienced users can fill in the blanks and suggest sensible ways of poking and prodding these things in order to see if they're satifactory?
In no particular order;
Seals on rear windows
Indicator lights working, especially reversing indicator
Rear splitter
Oil pressure sensor
Air con
Petrol filler ring
Finishes around gaiters
Door alignment
Door seals
I realise some of these may be trivial but I bet your dealer will be a lot keener to fix them BEFORE he has your money? Personally I'd rather walk away and leave the car with them for a few more days than spend the run-in period with a leaky window etc.
Also realise that some (rear splitter for example) might not show up a problem until you've driven the car for a while but with a bit of prodding you might be able to suggest a preventative measure before you take delivery.

This seems like a 'wish I had done this when I picked up the car'.
- check when windows are closed that there is no gap btw the top of the window and the roof (esp Tamora)
- check the number plates are fitted properly - I nearly lost the rear one, on the way home
- check the glovebox closes
- (for any car) carefully examine alloys and paintwork
That's the obvious ones not already mentioned.

And from me:
1. Repeated fuel sensor warnings.
2. Rubber seal at base of windscreen - make sure it's secure, especially near the pillar edges of the screen.
3. For the 'T' - some wind noise from the leading edge of each panel.
4. Boot cover studs - fixed too far apart.
All very minor...

.... and from me (in addition to a selected few from previous postings on thread)
- Plastic strip on rear screen peeled away
- Bolt covers on rear screen disappeared
- Wheelarches losing black paint
- Headlights steamed up when car washed
- Seatbelts can be a bit fiddly
- Washer bottle pipes worked free when very hot
AND
- My car has a slanty roof !!!!!!!

Here's a pointer for the roof panels on the T:
As soon as you get the car or get the dealer to do this, apply some form of lubricant (that won't damage your paintwork) to the rubber seals on the panels - the bit where they contact the paintwork on the roof. Looks like this could be a problem with the seals trapping dust and causing some paint wear.
Just noticed having spent all morning applying Zymol all over the thing - great stuuf and it smells incredible. Anyone else think the HD Cleanse smells of chocolate?

Ring surrounding petrol filler came off.
Oil leak.
I know we have heard all these before but is anyone elses Ash tray missing?
Good job I don't smoke !
Yes, I had an absent ashtray on my old Tamora. I think they forget to fit it when they've fixed the centre console.
Right, some of these will be repeated above and below no doubt but here goes.
Door seals
Bonnet catching on wipers
interior trim fit (especially glovebox)
window closure
door switches
tailgate fitting
airbox catching on bonnet
There are others but every car is so different in the way it arrives from Blackpool it's very hard to generalise. I have said this before on many occasions but I still feel that although these niggles start at the factory, and their seemingly poor and inconsistent quality control, it is down to the dealers to take far more care with their pdi and make sure all these things are ironed out before the customer takes delivery. That would certainly have avoided the problems I have had although I must be fair and say that TMS have done everything they can to get the silly niggles on my car sorted.
I just can't wait to get it back...
