Anyone have this problem? Fuel spits back, dissolves the glue holding on the chrome ring. The glue then runs down the side of the car and bonds with the paint -- presto, a nice brown streak! Mole Valley are on their second attempt to clean it off, strikes me as a design fault...

I noticed at my dealer(TVR Centre) that the fuel fillers on their T350's had 2 self tapping screws in them, obviously to solve this problem.

I had the same prob with the ring on my T350c,it came off when the car was only three weeks old!!taking a strip of paint with it (this was back in May).
It is now in the body shop having the rear end resprayed because of this.
there was talk that they may be fixing it back on with small "Allen screws".
Regarding the staining ,yes i get that as well and my car is yellow, how old is your car? i imagine that it is only a few weeks old, because thats when most of them that i have heard about have come off.
When filling up insert the nozzle and turn it 90 degrees, this does help, and never try to fill the tank up completly, you can contact me via my profile if you want to have a chat about anything else that happens.
coz believe me i have kept quite a list on mine.

Had mine 6 months, done 8 thousand miles, spilt petrol on the side a zillion times and I've had no problems.

I think my car knows I don't give a sh7t and will beat it with a big stick if it annoys me!

Having just said that, I'm expecting to find the filler ring on the floor when I open the garage tonight. I am taking a stick with me.

Nope mine fell off within four weeks of having the car. In a petrol garage making me look a right twat...

TMS glued it back on and its stayed there ever since.

I do have stains down the side from when I first got the car but I have got used to the fact that the fuel filler is a joke on this car and it takes 20 mins to fill the thing up...

It just means extra posing on the forecourt!!

Mine came off on the day I collected it from the dealer during first fill-up (also mananged to spray the guy talking to me as well ) - the dealer stuck it back on during 1000 mile service with a different adhesive and its been fine since - gets a good soaking now and again.

The melted glue came off with Autoglym Super Resin Polish (and I put some of this on every time I spill during a fill).

I'm not keen on the sound of this. Some scrote may decide to unscrew the filler and nick it for max muppet fiesta. TVR should bolt it in place from the inside.

Day five and the petrol filler ring is okay so far.

On the splash-back issue, according to TMS my filler hole thingy has a new breather in it that earlier ones didn't to aleviate the problem of it chucking petrol everywhere. It looks like a ring with holes drilled around the circumference that is fitted in the filler neck. Is this new?

I found that using the pump nozzle upsidedown is the better option.

Don't think so. Had mine in April and it's got this. Sound like the dealer is bull5hitting you. Surprise!

Mines a fairly early build car and mines also got these I'm afraid....

Not unless they have started putting more of these in.

I've started to use a couple of paper towels from the petrol station folded up over the filler when I open the top, stops getting sprayed and if you hold it tight stops any spray or over fill running down the side of the car.

Not sure what effect this will have on the filler ring though, probably concentrates any spill in that area! Mine hasn't fallen off yet, then again there is time yet!

Plus the paper towel does tend to reduce your posing power at petrol stations...

Along with the usual christening of spilt petrol, mine fell off on the way back from the dealers yesterday

Although hasn’t been able to take the stupid grin off my face I've acquired over the last 12 hours of driving

Popped into castle TVR, all the new 350's in the showroom had screws attaching the metal ring.

Going to give them a call in the week to see what they can do.

Now is it dry enough outside for a drive

mine fell off within days. I asked Dream Machines to fix it when I was last in. Took them a few minutes to sort it, this time with 2 screws rather than glue. No problems since. Don't get the splashback and no staining so far. Although being black I'm not sure it would show anyway.

I have just had my NSR wing repainted due to fuel oozing out of the filler and under the surface of the paint. The actual filler nozzle is screwed in place and appears fine, it's just some excess fuel which caused runs/dimples in the paint. Considering that I have only spilt fuel down the side 2 or 3 times this is a poor show (these were while on our trip to Italy and after a long motorway blast the opening/refueling/closing of the fuel filler was a dangerous process!

Cant see why your ethnic origins make a difference unless your dowsing yourself in a tribal ritual.
