Having had my Tamora for 6 weeks I decided to try Optimax fuel and found it improved performance, improved mpg maybe slightly. Any comments on this and if you can use this fuel all the time ?

I've just started using Optimax after a few thousand miles on standard 95RON unleaded and found quite a profound difference in the way the car behaves, improvements such as a more stable idle speed, a much more linear power delivery and much less pinking at high engine speeds and loads.

I am still trying to convince myself that I am getting better MPG but the argument is a bit thin - I just wish it had a bigger fuel tank so that I wouldn't have to refill quite so frequently.

I've used 95 on a few occasions but most of the 4000 miles I've done in my T350 have been on 98.

98 is better, a little quicker and certainly shows more stable ECU effects when cold. I also find it marginally better on MPG.

95 is for those 6am farm petrol stations emergency moments only in my book!!!!

Thanks guys,

Think I'll stick with Optimax or BP super unleaded I can't see it doing any harm. The other thing I was going to mention - top rear of both side windows the rubber leaves a small gap in the corner, fine on summer days - bad when raining as the win pressure pushes the rain into that corner and inside the car ( Unless you reduce speed) I thought I may be able to cut the rubber seal which looks as though its crimped when the roof is on and leaves this gap. any thoughts?

Try not to mix Optimax and BP Super unleaded - Optimax is 98 Ron BP Super only 97 Ron

Why not? You'd only end up with 97.5 ron. What if you had to mix 95 ron and 98 ron? (low fuel and no 98 available) surely you'd just end up with 96.5 ron (presuming you used equal quantities)

ummm cause - then you waste the money you spent on getting 98 Ron....You also lose the benefits of the additves they put in to keep the engine clean(or so they say)

When I get out I put just enough in to get me to a shell garage...
