targa aerodynamics
Discussion
Any thoughts / previous threads on how the targa panels (with / without) affect airflow? I've had a T350C for a few month and an Targa on order. The Coupe works so well aerodynamically above 150mph, unlike so many cars, I'm scared of reduced capability with the panels? Or am I just being picky?!
The airflow appears to take an interesting route over the panels thats for certain.
I'm no aerodynamicist, but the noise generated by the airflow at speeds above 80 mph, while considerable with the current panel seals, can be completely stopped by opening the window about a centimetre. This would appear to suggest that it can be easily disturbed in turn implying that the targa panels make very little difference to the overall aerodynamics.
A hard top even with targa panels will always present less airflow disturbance than a soft top even with the hood up. Overall the T versus C airflow effects I reckon are not far apart.
