Yep that ties up with what Steve Heath reported a couple of weeks ago as Ted said its a buisness and must make profits so it appears there turning away speed six customers to prevent further losses

You don't have to, you can shop around. Maybe you will be able to get the same or better benefits for less somewhere else.
Ted's right. Insurance is a business. Most TVR claims are for single-vehicle accidents and frankly if I was an insurance broker and claims were consistently higher than premiums, I wouldn't want 'our business'.
Sadly this applies to all TVR models, not just the
TAMORA & T350 as I reported at the start of June.
Time for owners to shop around..

Not at all - my insurance with Sunninghill went down by over £200 on the Griff this year. Haven't got any other quotes yet because it's not due for another 3 weeks, but they were the most competitive last year. I'll certainly be checking whether any other quotes give me the same packages of benefits (UK and Europe reccovery, track days, 1 month Green Card - all important to me).

I had a Sunninghill quote mid May rise by 50%, just 3
weeks later for the same thing.
Sadly I didn't have the car in time to take advantage
of the original deal.

Not lucky as such. My details just happen to fit a profile that Royal & Sunalliance have deemed to be low risk. Funny thing I discovered was that if I married Mr Rude instead of just stayed in a LTR, premiums would go down even more. But then he would be entitled to half my pension (which is bigger than his), so I'll just pay the insurance I think
And no, I'm not in for a shock, because I just got the quote last Friday.
I'm sorry if your insurance has gone up, but it's just a fact of life. In my work, I think nothing of telling people I don't want their business (or load the prices) if I routinely make a loss on it. If you know someone who has claimed damages after an accident when they weren't really hurt (I know loads), then blame them. And do a Ride-Drive, lots of the insurers will reduce premiums for that. Actually I'm hoping that I can convince my RideDrive instructor to come with me to the Northants Meet on Thursday, so you I might see you there.
When shopping around, look at mainstream insurers also, like Direct Line - I am expecting a big premium hike when I renew, because of my recent accident, and I put all the details onto Direct Line's website, and it came back as insuring a Tamora for about £1000, which is O.K. if Sunninghill are ratcheting up their premiums so much.
They could even put their TVR sections out of business if they continue like this, and get into mainstream insurers territory!

Are they saying that Tuscan/Tamora/T350 drivers are more likely to claim than Cerbera/Griffith/Chimaera drivers?
So what are reasons?
Alot is to do with history.The insurers know how much the premiums were for each car,thery also know how much they shelled out.If the shelling out equates to more than is brought in via the premiums,then next years premiums for that particular type of car goes up unfortunately.
Insurance companies like to see profit against each type of car not just overall

So you would risk loosing your good clients/customers for the sake of a few that have made dodgy claims.

Forget the repair costs, its total loss where the problem doubtless lies.. If 10 people stuff up a newish Tuscan its gonna be £350,000 - £400,000 for Sunninghill to find. If 10 people stuff up a Cerbie its going to be more like £250,000 to £300,000.

I'll be about as blunt as the insurance company your just another number on the computor.In situations like this (i.e a certain car is making big losses) your own history counts for jack
Sorry look around you should be able to find another company quite easily as your record is good

Apparently you have a problem with the fact that I do not agree with you. I am not an insurance broker, but I do understand that they work on probabilities, and if the probability of generating a deficit from one type of customer was sufficiently high, then yes, I would either load their prices or decline the opportunity to trade with them.
I have phoned Sunninghill this afternoon and asked them for some outline statistics which might inform the general discussion. If then can give me them, then I'll post them on this thread.
Your comment suggesting I am 'up Ted's a**se' is cheap and offensive. Feel free to disagree with my point of view but please desist from descending to personal abuse.
