Tamora Temperatures!
Discussion
Hi everybody.
I am a Tamora owner of 16 hours & have had a 4 year gap since my last TVR. I dont presently have the manual although I think my question is probably better answered from peoples experiances anyway!
The fans seem to cut in around 95C & this can occur whilst driving at 30 mph although I understand we are experiancing high temps at the moment. However whilst stationary the temps go to 115c when the Temp sensor warning comes up & then stabilises between 115 & 117c.
Very simply is this normal ? Any reaction or thoughts would be gratfuly recieved.

Hi, my fans come on at around 95C and bring the temp down to 91C ish.
The hottest reading I've ever seen has been 98C.
There have been other threads from owners who've seen temps over 100C without any problems.
As you've just bought the car it may be worth getting it checked and getting a manual.
Good choice by the way!

I spoke to the dealer at the same time as posting the question & left a message. They subsequently rang back & I explained the situation which they then refered to their service dept. They have then rung again to say that they believe one of two sensors is at fault as the temps are either too high or I am not getting the correct figures on the screen.
As such the service manager is getting into his car & driving the three-quarters of an hour to my office to fit them immediately!
I know we are not meant to mention company names too much but that is fab service from 'Suffolks' TVR dealer!

Hi Mark,
I've never seen mine go above 100, even sitting in traffic. Like you say the normally cut in is about 95. I think if you have a look on this forum you will find a few people asking the same question, the general conclusion seems to be that the temp sensor is not that accurate....................
Don't worry until you see steam coming out of the bonnet
Got any pictures ?
Cheers Nick

Welcome to the club !
Unless there is something else horribly wrong it sounds like this could be a faulty sensor. My Tamora did overheat once which was due to a leaky hose - nothing too major and fixed quite quickly and easily by the dealer. But even before that the highest temp. I saw was aout 108 and it was using a fair amount of coolant which was a teltale sign.
And as everyone will say - details & pictures please.
Cheers,
Iain

Hi Nick,
I will take some pics after they have finished replacing the sensors - they are here already! Que - how do you post a pic! My IT manager called me a Computor User Non Technical - take the first letter off each!!!! I recently made him redundant to get back at him!!!
Did you repace the stereo/£19.95 speakers in yours or just have a better spec on day 1. That is the worst stereo I have heard since I had an Fiat Uno....If so anything to watch out for on spkrs/head unit.
This is a really strange experiance - on the wedges, chims & Griffs I knew where things were & what to do! Things have moved on a little in my TVR absence & its like being back at school!! HELP...

My tamora has been up to 118C and has been fine. The pressure system should be able to cope with that. The fans come on in two stages and when it get hot enough for the seond fan the temp is rising but should come back down very quickly.
Hope this helps. Its steam you should worry about.

Thanks everybody for your input.
The scores on the doors at the present time are that the two new sensors, fitted very efficiently & quickly, indicate that the 1st fan comes on at 92c but the temp just keeps going up until the warning comes up at 107c ish which is 10c less than it did before.
HOWEVER the fans dont bring the temp down. Driving it down the road has a very sudden effect in dropping the temp & so does, strangly, reving it hard.
Upshot is something is a miss & I await a low-loader! I am assured that something convertable will come off the lorry before mine goes on it.

Nick,
I seem to remember that as well - what ever happenend to that car?. I think they are OK as I checked them & Peter did as well. He also tried it out & did not have the problem before it was delivered.
I dont think I am going to make it to 24 hrs of ownership but there should be a link to some pics fairly soon.
