Difficult to believe but in my 4 years of TVR ownership I've never been to a track day!?

I'm about to book myself for a track eve at the Bedford Autodrome and I notice that the noise restriction is 101Db at 50cm from pipe.
As its a standard exhaust on my Tamora, does anyone know whether it will pass this or not?

Also, anyone been to Bedford before? Would you recommend it to someone like me? (who knows how to drive fast, but never been to a trackday)

Cheers,
Dylan

Dylan, I'm afraid I can't help re: noise levels on a Tamora, but I do know that my Chimaera is a little over with a sport exhaust (I use inserts).
As for the track itself, its great. I've been 3 times on Autocar events and there are all kinds of levels of driving. One great thing is there's nothing to hit if you get it wrong (apart from the fabled turn 8 - you'll find out from Mick Maggio soon enough). Good venue, nice selection of corners and good facilities. Petrols a bit dear at £1 litre but thats normal for on site petrol.
Oh yes, enjoy yourself and don't be scared to get it sideways!!

Spoke to the factory this week and they said T350 was 97Db.

I Went to Silverstone y/day evening with 98Db limit. My car wasn't individually tested, but, I understand there is a noise-meter somewhere on the pit straight to catch offenders. I assume that all was well, no one said anything.

Surely Tamora will be similar. I'd guess you will be safe.

Yeah they tell you that... !!!
I've been to around 15 track days (not test days!) at Silverstone now, all with a 98db limit. I have never seen a car here fail or been pulled in for noise. Last time I was there I was in a garage next to a fully prep'd racing Viper. My chim has been measured at 108db, and this Viper was soooo much louder than mine.

Bedford though is more strict, and as far as I’m aware they do measure your car before going out (if they think it’s too loud). Just don’t rev it past 4000rpm when they measure it…

Dylan,

My Tamora has a standard exhaust, I went to Castle Coombe recently, they measured it and it was 97dB at 4000 revs.
So you should be fine.
Also, the car was absolutely BRILLIANT round the track, so you will have a great time!!
