Afternoon all,

Hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather. The rear tyres on my Tamora need changing. Presently I have the Avon's but every time I floor it in 1st, even when already moving they spin like mad. Even in the dry when warm. I drove a T350 on different tyres and it did not have such problems keeping the power down. I had SO2's on my Elise which were great but are now hard to get. Can anyone please recommend a good tyre at reasonable cost?

Many thanks in advance

Steve

Ive got Toyo Proxes on mine (came fitted on the car as std) and in my opinion they are very well suited to the car. Fantastic levels of grip in both dry and wet. Have done 4,500 miles so far (including a "reasonably" hard track day ) and there's still plenty of life left in them. There performance on track was fantastic......reasonably warm track temp and managed blasts of 8 - 10 hard laps without any moans/groans. There were no sudden "break aways" and the grip was very stable with progressive slides when pushed really hard.

I heard somewhere recently that Toyo could be teaming up with TVR to produce a TVR sepcific tyre....might be worth looking into.

I changed to Toyo Proxes in the Chimaera and found them quite reasonable, both price and performance. I have SO2s on the Tamora and they still spin in the dry if you get too enthusiastic and drift around the Milton Keynes roundabouts.

Steve, I presume that if you've got Avon's then you've got 16" wheels?
My advice is to get the 18" wheels and Toyos.
Your car will look much better, handle better and be worth more come time to sell.
Cheers.... Andrew

By the way, even the 18" Toyo's won't cure the wheelspin....it may help calm it down a little but in fairness any tyre is gonna struggle trying to put 350 of Britains finest down!
