Noticed little brown/rust coloured, spots/stains all over the car. It's not tree sap or tar and it won't rub off. Anybody experienced something similar?

Taken it anywhere near a metal grinding workshop?

Will the spots T/Cut or polish off?

Not to my knowledge.

The bloke who valets it has tried everything in his magic box of tricks and the marks wont come off.

If tiny bits of swarf fell on the metallic paint before it was lacquered,(i.e. at the factory) could it then go rusty after a few months?

That could be a reasonable assumption.
You could try a test to find out.

Find an inconspicuous place that won't show but has these spots. Select an area about the size of a penny, using 1200 wet and dry, either wet of dry, gently abrade and clean away the spots.

Now leave to the open air for a week (or longer) and see if the spots return.

My conclusion would be that if the spots did NOT return they were on the surface of the paint and should be able to be cleaned off.

Alternatively, if they DID return that they were caused by something under or in the paint.

If it’s some form of ferrous oxide (rust) it should return and be visible after a day or so.

Hope this helps.

also if they are on the surface you should be able to feel them.

this sort of thing happens a lot with cars collecting industrial fallout and can be really difficult to remove, whatever you do be careful to wash away any loosened particles as they make some nasty sratches.

Blueyes - congratulations on the first GF bodied TVR to rust!

I bet if you tell all the 'Swordfish' and 'Reflex' owners that it's a new paint effect they'll all want it!
