I took a spin over to kent on sunday in the pile o pooh and on the way back the water temp went up to 108 and the oil at one stage went up to 118,now before you all say it was hot, mine always seems to run at about between 94-98,water that is,what sort of temps does anyone elses run at,as and when they actually start..

Around 94 for water and about 10 degrees lower for oil. Sat in traffic it hits 98, but sat for an hour and a half on the M1 it did break 100, though the fan did bring it down.

Saw 103-105 oil temp several times in Italy (it was very hot- 36c! and I was booting it) and got a oil temp sensor warning. Dealer said it was nothing to worry about.

I wosn't worried... it's got a warranty!

If your car is always running 94-98 even on open roads then I would get your dealer to check it out as this is not normal. Mine stays in the low 80's on open roads and really only gets above 95 if stuck in traffic on hot days. Do your temps come done significantly once you get out of traffic ? If not then you may have a head gasket problem ( mine went 6 months agao ).

Mine overheated a while back and it was diagnosed as a small leak in one of the hoses. Prior to that I did often see water temps of 100+ especially in traffic. Since it was fixed though, on motorways and fast A roads, water is normally mid to high 70's with oil about 5 lower and in town water is around 90 with oil at 85'ish. Sometimes when stuck in traffic it does get up to 97-98 but as said by others fans kick and bring it down by a few degrees. Oil does always seem to lag about 5 degs below water for me.
Cheers,
Iain
