Having lurked for a while as a newbie and seen the helpful advice offered to others I thought I'd share my "undocumented feature" with the group... (hey, this is better than therapy )

During a "normal" Tamora start-up the shift indicators light up momentarily one-by-one before you take that final step and all hell breaks loose (only had it for about 8 mths - can anyone tell me when you stop every time you hear that sound!).

With mine I have the added excitement of a start-up lottery:
- Sometimes the amber light stays on looks pretty but has no other impact and goes off once engine starts.
- Sometimes both amber and red lights stay on (even prettier )and engine will not start (same effect as having immobiliser active) - easy to overcome as a lifetime around Microsoft products has taught me that all technological problems can be fixed by turning it off and then back on (anyone know where the ctrl-alt-del keys are on a tiv?).

I've already had expert advice from my local main dealer ("hmm, that's interesting. Never seen one do that before.") but would love to hear whether anyone has any more helpful suggestions...

Thanks in advance.

The array of lights are a self test programme. If theya re not fully cycling it could indicatea problem with the electronics. Speak to your dealer or Jason Oxley at the factory so that you can find out what the hang means and thus get it resolved...

Mine does this too. I can end up with two of the three lights on with the engine running but no digitial info at all. Sometimes it's just immobilised with the lights on. I've found that if you switch the ignition on and you don't get the beeps and lights off before starting the engine, it's best to switch the ignition off and start again.

Having said that my Oil Pressure sensor has just given up and I'm getting EFI Faults all over the place. This car is actually proving to be a bag of sh*t.

In their attempt to fix the water ingress TMS have now adjusted the doors so that they rub the bodywork .. yet another warranty issue. I wish I'd stuck to the Chimaera.

Hi Jon, I always start the ignition and pause to make sure everything's OK before starting the engine.

It's either OK, ie. needles spin around and 1 beep for each of the change up lights, or needles spin but no beeps from lights and nothing on the digital display.

If this happens then turning the ignition off/on fixes it.

The TVR Service Department have looked at it and call it a 'known bug' that they're working on.

If they get a fix and let me know I'll post it here.

Cheers.... Andrew

My Tamora was collected by TMS earlier today for the 12 month/6000 mile service and this same problem was also on my list of points requiring attention.

When starting mine, I adopt the same procedure as ALT, waiting for needles to move, lights to flash and fuel pump to charge.

Occasionally on turning the key, the needles stay still, the lights don't flash, the digital display stays blank, but the fuel pump still bursts into life.

Sometimes switching the ignition off and back on again cures it, (but not very often) or sometimes actually starting the engine and then stopping it does the trick. However, on quite a few occasions, nothing can coax the digital display to life and although the engine fires and seems to run perfectly, I then get random flashing of the change-up lights every 30 secs or so.

This fault was checked at the 1000 mile service and I was told that it was due to water ingress at the base of the screen, (I also had the usual condensation in the lower offside corner of the screen every time the car got wet). However, the screen was resealed, (which cured the condensation problem), but I still get the intermitted fault with the instruments.

One other 'interesting' glitch was when the needles tried to fly all the way round the speedo and tacho on start up. After a lot of clicking and whirring, with the needles bouncing off the end stops, I noticed that the needle on the speedo had been pushed out of alignment and was the reading appx 5mph slower than the digital display. The instrument pod is therefore being sent back to the factory to be reset whilst the car is in for the service.

Other than those couple of minor problems, the car is running superbly after 12 months of ownership.
