Does the power to the cigarette lighter go off when the ignition is turned off or does it stay on all the time?

I need the power for my Road Angel, what is the clearance like between the lighter socket and the dash? I seem to remember it being pretty tight! Failing that I'll get it more permanently wired in...

Only 3 weeks to go!!!

Thanks in advance... Nicksey

I had the holder for my Geodesy permanently wired in by the dealer before I collected the car, (cost appx £50 I think), and it sits on the dash above the stereo head unit.

They were able to run the cable between the upper and lower parts of the dash, so it's quite neat.

Thanks Robertm, I was thinking along a similar line (maybe at the 1k service though). Do you have any problems picking up GPS signal through the roof?

Any T350C owners have a GPS device located away from the windscreen in a more discreet place therefore receiving signal through the roof?

...does the lighter socket go off with the ignition?

No problems at all with the Geodesy with the roof on.

Don't know about the cigarette lighter I'm afraid.

If you're looking for a 12v switched feed, you may be better picking up something from the supply to the stereo, as the GPS unit will be low current drain.

Ive got a road angel, and i use the fag lighter, its ok.
I was gonna get it wired in but you still have the lazer bit with the wire coming down unlike the other models on sale, and my speed unit on top off dash above the clocks, which works ok for me.
