Was getting ,my blue baby back today after some time (cooling hose pooped etc) and was bursting with excitement...
Unfortunately after a few miles driving I found out that the power steering was not working (took me some time as in the begining I thought I've just gone soft hehe after all that limo driving)- but confirmed that not working as after switch off engine no change in steering effort tank
During time at the garage I also had the ECU taken out ( I sent it to Jules for cooling sensor adjusting)- could it be that there is some wire/ relay/ fuse linked to the power steering from this/ around this aerea- the owners manual not very helpful here only says fluid top up for power steering (needless to say its full)- as its all pretty close to the steering rack
Or is it just another banghead coincidence TVR sh...... that it breaks now - although I believe its bought in from fiat or so???
Thanks as always-
I just want some sun and some driving

Mr John

Will probably be the fuse.
Common fault on them, very cheap and easy fix.

This applies to Sagaris
Power steer; Peugeot part; main fuse in battery box with green/yellow feed to relay in engine compartment.

Likelihood of failure;

Fuse No.36 in drivers panel; This is shared with Lambda heaters this is the feed to the grey relay in the engine compartment.
No.35 on the T350 I am told

The main 80 amp flat fuse fuse is in the battery compartment on the n/s behind the wheel. Jack up and remove wheel & the two screws and cable tie to remove the cover, look for the black plastic rectangular fuse holder on the red cable with a black plastic connector in the middle
remove tape and open cover to check the fuse for continuity.

The supply to the power steer relay has a connector with a green/yellow control wire from the ECU is in the battery box; open the connector by cutting the cable tie, Check this connector has continuity and not rusted up.

The relay in the engine compartment can be checked whilst you have the battery box open. Put a +ve live supply from the battery to the green wire to the relay. The pump should operate without the ignition on if relay is OK. To replace the relay push the tabs back with two hands then with the third! pull out the relay. The pump and relay is from a Citroen and a Peugeot405 Cable colours :- 1 signal green/yellow
2 -Neg ground/black
3 +ve supply to relay red (80A fuse)
5 +ve to power steer pump

The steering pump cable from the relay has a connector and can be tested with a suitable heavy duty cable from the battery; 2 +ve 0-ve

Hope this helps

Graham

Hmm that gives me three possibilities as I had the ECU out- so chance this cable misconnected, the fuse but also the mains fuse as I also had my jump start plug replaced...
will see,
thanks for the comprehensive summary

banghead supply to relay rusted away in batt compartment (likewise jumpstart plug), so Peugeot part ordered- more TVR free weeks to follow- good that the weather is like it is....

Hi I have no power steering, I can run the pump when I power up the grey relay with a 12v supply so pump runs and all main fuses are good. Can anyone advise if the signal wire can be tested eg I assume from reading that it gets its signal from the ecu how that is activated is not clear to me however can I break into the green yellow wire and expect to see a signal voltage when operating the steering

Thanks in advance

I had a similar issue with mine years ago following a service which involved changing the ns engine mount, the signal wire was left to close to exhaust And burn through ! I think you'd be able to test to see if you get a voltage there when you turn ingintion to start ? Failing that maybe grey relay in engine compartment ?
