Check out 'barefoot' through the profiles, I'm pretty certain he had that upgrade done, he may have even been the first one in the T350 with it.

edited to change 'barefoot' for 'leadfoot', sorry for the mistake

No they haven't. I asked at the factory when the valve gear souded like it was going west, and I figured if the engine needs a rebuild, why not upgrade. But the factory said it "Wasn't available". I'm sure if push came to shove it would be possibe. Christof has it though....

Talking with somebody at the factory a couple of weeks back, i do not believe any cars have gone out with this conversion yet as it is still being finalised.

What I was told is that it is a 380bhp upgrade not a 400 as originally planned.

Benno are you sure barefoot didn't have this done I'm sure last I remember it was being run-in on the dyno and having the final chip update for the ECU being prepared by JR. Did it not happen in the end then .

Benno's right - when I spoke to them, the "wasn't available" actually meant that the upgrades had not been decided on, various parts hadn't been made/sourced, and also the Tamora would not get it in any circumstance anyway. Obviously they want the T350 to have more performance than the Tamora, to give an impression of galloping development.

Dont see how he can of if a top person at the factory is saying it still doesnt exist as its still being developed.

There is a Tamora owned by a PH'er that has a Tuscan S motor.

So its been done, but I believe this was a one off...

When I ordered the T350 my dealer and a number of TVR staff were trying to push me in the direction of the £7K S and Sequential gearbox upgrade...

They really should get their information straight...

For the record and to put Benno and others straight and especially anyone who has inside information at “top level” at the factory I do indeed have the 400 BHP engine fitted to my car!

The engine was built by Andy Minns who lives next door to my brother and he has just recently built a couple of 450 ones for the Tuscan R I presume. The dyno shows that they got over 400 BHP but backed it off to increase the torque lower down.

It is true that when I took delivery JR was in America so I had to wait for the final ECU and big bore exhaust to be fitted. It has now done 3000 miles and flies! It has a far better power delivery than my RR Tuscan which was very torquey and very hard to get off the line without too much wheel spin. In the T350 the power is more linear and just gets better and better up to nearly 8000rpm.

The engine is smoother and the top end is so vicious it struggles for grip at 7000rpm! It feels unburstable and gets quicker as the miles are piling on. The only problem I have had is with a low oil pressure reading which turned out to be a sensor. Heath lent me a 4.5 Cerbi whilst it was in and to quote my 15 yr old son “jeeze dad this isn’t as quick as yours” and honestly it wasn’t, but can’t divulge how I know that!

Christof has the same engine and hopefully I will be meeting up with him when he is over. I don’t need or want to get into a yes he has no he hasn’t got this engine situation, if anyone is at the factory speak to Heath or Andy and they will confirm. And yes the engine alone was worth the £4000………..

Sounds like £600 worth of traction control would be a good option!

Sorry Barefoot, i did get told it wasnt get available yet, just a couple of weeks ago.

Was the information I was told about it being a 380bhp upgrade when it would be released correct, as you said yours had been backed off a bit from the 400? What did it end up as?

Benno

Mine was dynoed at over 400 but was backed off to 400...I promise you its a good 400 and once driven I dont think anyone would argue the point!...I have owned 8 TVRS and driven lots of loan cars over the years and this is without doubt the best engine I have ever owned of any car, and my T350 the best TVR I have owned by far. Saying that I loved my 450 SEAC !!

agreed its a lovely car alright and it drives very well.

i have enough problems keeping mine in a straight line with 350bhp so respect to yourself!

guess if its got its final ECU and exhaust now it must be a fair bit over 400bhp? Does it sound different from a standard car, and what are the mods to the engine etc, is it just a different map etc or something more radical?

Wonder if this engine will be 'dropped' into the press cars?
