Well now, 1) quality built - not sure what you mean by this? 2) the look, of what, the boxter? Don't care for it myself and it's certainly nowhere near as stylish as the original concept-car 3) the top, what about it? all the Boxters I ever see have the roof up. 4) after sales service? well I can tell you plenty of TVR dealers who will offer you a coffee and a copy of the Times to read if you want. Thing is they are different cars, if you want a Porsche and are prepared to put up with average (for Porsche) performance and can't afford a 911 the ok go for a Boxter. If you want sheer power and exitement combined with a touch of originality go for the TVR. ;-)
Do not misunderstand what I am saying : I REALLY LIKE the Tamora. I was just trying to say that the two cars are different, and as such could not be compared. A Tamora is closer to a Lotus Elise than a Porsche Boxster S in my opinion. And unlike the Boxster, the Tamora would loose a match against a car which has got +100 HP more (ie Ferrari 360 Spider).
Which is unusual though with the Tamora, is that it is the first time a roadster is handling as well (or even better) as the Boxster! Congratulations ! But don't forget, the Porsche is now 3 years old...

I assume you mean 'lose a match', and what you appear to be saying is that the Boxter would not lose against a Ferrari or any car with an extra 100 bhp. .
Do your roll ups smell funny ?
Yeah, thanks for that last one Ted - my girlfriend's a hairdresser, and she absolutely loves my Chimaera, and made me buy theTamora. She thinks Boxsters are crap, but at least she keeps her sense of her profession's values, by drooling most of all, over, the Z3!! Aaargh, you try to educate wimmin, and what do you get!?
Mr. Lister, Sir, you don't know what the F**k, you're talking about - my girlfriend has at least as good an appreciation of cars, speed etc, as you, so shut your bigoted, trashy mouth.
Top Gear, I think did make the point that the Tamora and Boxster are different cars united by a common price bracket. The Boxster is the better overall car, the one you can live with day to day, but the Tamora gets all the laurels for sports car virtues - handling, cornering, speed, roadholding etc. I don't commute into the City, so I don't value liveability above all else - I value the Tamora's rough diamond approach far more, and that's why it's my choice. I NEVER thought, though, that I would see the day when a TVR could out-handle a Porsche! Makes you proud, doesn't it?
Incidentally, I think, given the power- to-weight ratios, a Tamora would outrun a Ferrari Spider, either 355 or 360 (290 vs 338 bhp/ton, if memory serves). A 911 GT3 is more the benchmark for performance, but is in a different league on price.

Try again, I did not say that.

I'm pleased that TVR 's are showing all-round improvements - they are progressing in development and building of their cars. I know Porsche and TVR are roughly the same age, as manufacturers, but they have such different development histories, that I feel it is only during the PW era that TVR has become a serious car marque. Wedge owners will hate me for saying this, but prior to the 'S' series, TVR's really were glorified kit cars.
My point in saying this is that TVR are way behind Porsche, Ferrari etc. in development miles, which makes their recent models all the more remarkable for their style and competitiveness - reliability only comes about through painstaking development and testing , the refining of tried and tested components and designs - TVR are in the early stages of this proceass, and are really the new kids on the block. The Tamora shows that they know in which direction they are going, and is a huge leap forward, even over the Tuscan. Credit where it's due, guys...

I don't want to prolong the debate, but to provide a balanced view early TVRs could attract the same comment - in the late 1950's the TVR coupe's body shell was evolved from two Microplas Mistral nose cones, one at each end.
