BH Monday on the back of a Recovery Vehicle!
Discussion
I was lucky enough to have one of the first two customer Tamoras in January 2002 and have been driving it every day since with no problems. Until now!
I was returning home yesterday to Warwickshire from Kent and stopped to get petrol on the A2 after about 10 miles. Filled up and started the engine. It started but I got an "Oil Pressure Warning 0psi" and the engine cut out! Tried again a few times but the same happenned, ie. engine starts then dies with oil pressure reading 0! Checked the oil which was fine but added some more to be sure.
Pushed the car away from the pumps and phoned the RAC. Told him what had happenned and he suggested a Recovery Vehicle straight away. He didn't even try and sell me a battery!
Had some fun getting the Tamora onto the Recovery Vehicle as the front's so low! Luckily the guy had some wooden blocks which helped.
Took the car straight to TVR Power and left it there overnight. Lucky really as it was booked in for its 12,000 mile service today and I'd already arranged a courtesy Chimaera!
Just waiting for TVR Power to let me know what the problem is? Hope it's just something simple like the oil pressure sensor not reading properly!
Anyway, I'll post again later when I know.
Cheers.... Andrew

Same on mine, but only for about a second once it's fired up. Presumably that's just the time it takes for the oil pump to raise pressure within the engine?
Andrew, sorry to hear about your problems - just as well the car was booked in for the service. Strange that it happened after you'd refuelled - you didn't top it up with diesel did you?
Hope you're soon back on the road.
Bad news, Andrew - I can't imagine what's happened - but I think it sounds more like ECU or fuelling problems, and the oil pressure thing is coincidental, especially if the oil level is o.k. Could be a failed oil pump I suppose, or a blocked fuel line/filter.
Never fear, it'll get sorted, and it's still under warranty!

Same on mine. Just like the warning light on my old griff(s) used to come on for a very short time on starting. In that (griff) manual it said it was supposed to do that and was only a problem if it stayed on.
Sorry to hear this Andrew, fingers crossed it doesn't take long to sort. try not to fear the worst remember that when mine went wrong they thought the engine was shagged and it turned out to be a jammed fuel injector. Different symptoms to yours though as mine started and just mis-fired and flooded itself....
Keep us posted mate.

Thanks guys but I always get the Oil Pressure Warnings as well. It starts at zero and then climbs immmediately. This time it didn't climb but remained on zero as the engine fired up and then cut out.
TVR Power mentioned some sort of fuel blockage so I'm anxious to hear from them soon today?
As for warranty well it's only the engine that's covered by the second year so I guess this is when we find out the definition of the "engine"!
Until later..... Andrew

if yours was just a jammed fuel injector why did they tell you that the engine had to be removed flash?

Alt,
Sorry just confused over why flashers needed engine to come out just to sort a supposed fuel injector issue, hope yours is ok.
Mine does the 0 PSI bit then ramps up within 5-10 seconds to normal pressure, perhaps you need a new oil pump or perhaps it is just a basic ECU fault. If it didnt go bang then it doesnt sound too catastrophic.
Any news yet??

Alt,
Just a thought but, if they don't find a problem but this recurs next time you fill up it could be a shagged fuel regulator.
I got exactly the same thing with my Tuscan. The dealers couldn't find a problem so told me it was water ingress from when they jet washed it for me. It ran fine until the next time I filled up and then did exactly the same thing.
cheers,
Mike
