its here with different oil

with red stitching..slipped into handbook a leaflet
about carlube motor oil and according to page 59 in
handbook tvr use and recommend carlube oil.is this
any easier to find than some of the mobil grades.
the info screen seems to put up the readings in the
reverse order to the tamora i traded in, scroll thru
screens using left button.the altered sill below the
rear screen certainly helps with opening,though must
remember to use it when closing..trapped fingers a couple of times already...
fancy trading in a rag top on the warmest day so far this year !!!.thank goodness i specced air-con.

The factory changed oil suppliers quite a few months back.
When I spoke to them I was told that there was no real difference in the oil but just that they were getting a better deal on it than Mobil 1.
They also said that they, and all the dealers, would continue to use their stock of Mobil 1 before switching to Carlube.

The Carlube thing is interesting.
If you were cynical, you might be forgiven for thinking that TVR's recommendation to use Carlube was linked to Carlube's sponsorship of the Tuscan Challenge rather than the sheer quality of the product itself.
Indeed, if you were super cynical, you might have a jaunt around the paddock and ask the Tuscan teams whether their racing machines contained a drop of Carlube, and might not be surprised to find that the answer is no...
Fortunately I'm not cynical. I've no idea whether Carlube is any good - but as long as its the right viscosity and you change it regularly you're probably fine.

Remember when I ran a BMW, had problems with it one day and the main dealer asked what fuel I had been using I told him "Fina" his reply was don't use that crap in it!At the time Fina was a major sponsor for BMW Motorsport!I am afraid I am cynical and can't see any good reason for TVR changing from Mobil other than commercial!!
You old cynic Andy! Me? I'll continue using the Mobil 1 5W-50 I buy in France at about £17.50 for 4 ltrs Rich...

Castol R is the old, but beautiful smelling, castor based, racing oil that needed changing regularly. Only available for use in classic racing cars.
Think you mean Castol RS which is the synthetic stuff you can buy today?
