A couple of weeks ago I saw my first T350, and was seriously impressed (the car is worth the money for the petrol filler and rear window hinges alone !!). Having owned a Tamora for a year I must admit I was somewhat envious of the T350 UNTIL last week-end when the roof was off and I was back to open top driving of the first order through the roads of East Sussex. The T350 is glorious but so is the Tamora. (I'm not convinced a T bar will give that true open top experience but I await its launch with baited breath). With all the "posts" raving about the T350, I thought I would post one raving about the Tamora.

I've got to agree with you dougie.

If the T350 looked like this.......

.....TMS would receive my deposit tomorrow.

In the meanwhile, whilst the sun is shining, I think I'll stick with my Tamora.

That does looks stunning, it has all the right design cues for a thoroughly modern TVR roadster, like the scalloped doors, the large flat boot lid, to get the roof in, and the nose reminiscent of a Tuscan racer or Griffith. When can I buy one? R...

Nice one Dougie!! The Tamora is a fantastic car, and you can't beat a rag top. Flasher's mock-up is inspired, and I really hope they do bring one out. It's the only thing that would make me change my current car!

Well said Dougie! I totally agree with the you. The T350C is stunning and I'm envious of all those people who just bought them.
But, I'm in work now and the Tamora's sitting outside with the roof in its boot. Looking forward to taking the long way home tonight!
Cheers..... Andrew

If you look hard at the mock up it doesn't really look that different to a Tamora....

I honestly believe that TVR will eventually change the Tamora front and rear end to look like the T350. That would help the thing sell like hotcakes.

I loved my Tamora but I have to admit I was never really happy with the way the arse end of it looked. The T350 is perfect from every angle IMO and I'm absolutley delighted with it. First service coming up on Thursday, the car is now run in and I can't wait to wring it's neck properly!!!!

Flasher, glad you're happy with your car. I look forward to seeing it sometime.....
I agree with your comments about the Tamora. Personally I like the back end but agree that a T350 front would make an improvement.
Cheers.... Andrew

My feelings exactly, flasher. The back end doesn't look right, and it needs the T350 treatment. But, you know how dificult it is for TVR to admit to a mistake, and also the tooling up costs for new moulds, wind tunnel work, etc., mean it is an expensive reversal of policy. But I think it will happen - TVR only need to listen to their customers, and realise a short term loss will be a long term gain.

you are right Nubbin (as usual Doc!!)

I think that the sales figures will ultimatley make the decision for them, basically and fundamentally the Tamora is a fabulous car and apart from having a better and more comfortable (yet suprisingly stiffer) supension set up the T350 really only differs from it in the looks department. I'm sure that the suspension could be altered to mirror that of the T350C so it's really only changing the moulds and the subsequent work involved with this that would cost TVR money. But if that means the tamora then becomes a best seller then TVR will be laughing all the way to the bank...

I don't think re-moulding the jigs is that expensive for TVR it's more down to whether they are prepared to ditch the current look and change the rear and front ends. My money is on them doing it before the summer is out....

Plus the larger flat area in Flasher's mock up amke it look as if geting the roof panel in/out would be easier. All in all I can't think what they are waiting for!

They possibly don't want to upset owners of the current Tamora model, who, having spent around £40k within the past 12 months, would see the residual value of their cars slashed dramatically?

It wouldn't worry me too much - not because I'm rich or owt, but I'm losing money buying new TVR's anyway, and I've already taken the first year's hit, plus the dealers will probably give me in inflated price anyway in p/ex, to keep me sweet - ain't that right, flasher?

I also would get the car I wanted the Tamora to be, so one happy nubbin all round! Hmm, 400bhp upgrade, bigger brakes, sports exhaust, ambla/lamonta interior. now there's a thought....

When TMS kindly loaned me their Tuscan demonstrator, whilst my Tamora was back at the factory, I asked them what sort of trade in value they would give me against a Tuscan, bearing in mind that at that time, my car was 5 months old and had covered about 1200 miles. It took them a couple of days to get back to me, but the best they could do was £28-£29k!

IMHO if the T350 was released as a convertible, we'd be lucky to get £25k as a trade in value on a 6 - 12 month old Tamora, so to chop it in for the new model with upgraded engine/brakes etc., we'd be looking at an additional £18-£20k

I could be completely wrong of course.

If TVR announced a facelifted Tamora, I'd be hammering on the local dealer's doors to hand over my deposit. The mock-up above is stunning - TVR would sell them by the bucketload, I'm sure!

Will it happen? I blimmin' hope so...

That'll be them 16" wheels Robert! I think they were taking the piss, to be honest. Try again in the middle of summer, once the T350 owners get fed up of their pasty complexions and sweaty arses!

Think on this chaps. I feel in love with a T350C at the motor show. So I discussed with my local dealer in Arkley and came to an agreement. Traded-in my W reg 4.0 Chimaera for £20k with 36k miles on the clock, paid a 10% deposit and took delivery on 01-03-03 - NICE. I was told that Chimaera would be retailed at about £25k after the scratches were sorted.
The T350C is so different, but its lost a 'TVR exhaust note' - dont care, would'nt change for anything. Plus the heated rear window nots working. Any one else with T350C probs? Terry

It seems that every thread I read tends to go down the line of comparison between the T350 and Tamora and the latter coming of worse.
IMHO the two cars are different:- one being a rag top the other a coupe. Why don't we all just appreciate them both for what they are TVR's!
I come on to this thread because I own a Tamora and enjoy speaking with others who crave everything about TVR's. I know it's a healthy forum for discussion but give the Tamora a break, after all I think it is a fantastic piece of machinery which makes me smile everytime I look at it.
I shall get my coat and get off my soap box now!
