Went for my second test drive in a T350C today and am speccing my order.

Q1 Are Lamonta inserts in doors and seats (plus headlining) standard or a cost option and if so how much?

Q2 Two dealers have told me that there is a delivery charge from TVR of £600. Ithought £38,500 was the on the road price. Who's right?

Q3 Which is best - Red Bull blue or Viper blue?

Q4 Working on a budget, do I need a Tracker or will the usual "Halfords Type" steering wheel cover lock accessory do the job?

Thanks in advance for your help but be quick!!

Hi Clive,

Nice to meet/talk to you today. I see the test drive must have done the business for you!

To answer your questions:

1. The Lamonta headlining is standard trim. The doors and seats were an additional cost. I don't know exactly how much though as my car was specced up and then the total cost was discounted slightly as it was a cash deal (No part-ex). I would assume £350-ish for this.

2. The delivery charge was an additional cost too, on top of the list price.

3. Colour is a personal choice but given those two to choose from I would go for the Red Bull blue. See pictures of Flashers car on other threads on here, it does look gorgeous. (Still prefer Rosso/nightfire myself though )

4. The Tracker question is still debatable. So far as far as Sunninghill Insurance are concerned a Tracker must be fitted or they will not provide cover. Some other insurers may not insist on this - you will have to shop around. For now though I would budget another £299 plus £99 annual subscrption to be safe. At the end of the day having one is probably not a bad thing, peace of mind etc. Plus this can be fitted by the dealer.

In addition to the above I strongly suggest you go for air-con too. Most T350's seem to be specced with it and you could lose out in the future when it comes to trade in or re-sale. Not to mention It will be necessary in the summer!

Once you have sorted all this don't forget to haggle a bit! Then sit back and let the excitement build!!

Thanks for answering but my only concern over lamonta and delivery charges is that you are quoting the same person who is telling me! Have you or has anyone else got a different source that confirms or counters these prices?

I am getting excited though!

Lamonta was made standard about a month ago as bison was proving a bit less popular! Standard trim is now lamonta with pseudo leather, although i would try for leather seats as standard as they are quoting half hide as standard which in TVR speak means leather seat facings.

Delivery is normally a chargeable (are you trading in?)

I had to fit a GPS tracker for insurance.

You need Air Con, both RBB and GTS Blue are nice, dependent on the interior colours you want I think there is a blue lamonta which matches the GTS blue perfectly.

Only comment I would make is that pearl is nigh on 700 but a decent metallic blue is £300. Big difference.

The Lamonta is standard, and you can have in doors, seats at no extra charge. The only materials you pay extra for are leather. (unless the specs have changed since i got mine). If in doubt phone the factory -i am sure they will advise.

Q2 Two dealers have told me that there is a delivery charge from TVR of £600. Ithought £38,500 was the on the road price. Who's right?

Unfortunately they do slap a delivery charge on.

Q3 Which is best - Red Bull blue or Viper blue?

Is personal choice, had GTS Blue on my last Cerbera which i specced back in 1998, and had the car for 4 years, which is why i didn't go for it again But an excellent colour. Red Bull is nice but a bit dark for me. You may want to Consider Lotus Laser Blue, MG Trophy blue is nice (just to confuse you!!), i also liked Olympic Blue. Colour choice caused me a major dilema!

Q4 Working on a budget, do I need a Tracker or will the usual "Halfords Type" steering wheel cover lock accessory do the job?

Norwich Union haven't asked me for a Tracker to be fitted, suggest you ask your insurers or shop around.

Thanks in advance for your help but be quick!!

I spec'd our Tamora a few weeks ago - I think the ambla is perhaps replacing the bison as the no-cost standard option for dash, etc, not Lamonta. I have the 'Lamonta option' which is doors/part of the seats - I can't give you the price of the Lamonta option only because we also had part leather trim added.

Delivery is definitely extra to the standard price.

Snakes,

Having spent nearly 40K on a car, I'd want to make sure it was armed to the teeth with security devices.

For own peace of mind if nothing else

I'm amazed at how many people spend a small fortune buying a car, and then 'make do' with a £99 Alarm system.

Maybe I'm being too paranoid, but I'd fit a tracking device & quality alarm as standard. Not to mention a steering wheel Disklock etc etc.

Ordered Mine from the TVR Centre 3 weeks ago, I think I paid around £300 for the lamota door inserts, but as has been mentioned already it is definatly worth getting the air-con - you will boil without it!!
As for getting a tracker fitted, I have got quotes from 3 companies and not one has insisted on a tracker being fitted - from what I can make out they usually only insist on one in cars with a value greater than £50k. Having said that I am fitting one anyway...would not want to lose my baby!!
Look for an Impereal Blue Pearl T350C bombing around south london in the next 4 weeks!!!! yea!!!!

I was going to suggest imperial blue (ford colour IIRC) It was pretty popular on Chimaeras about 4-5 years ago - I nearly specc'ed mine with it but ended up going for Cosmos blue instead. There seems to be a lot of blue 350s being built. Its interesting how some colours are in 'fashion' at a particular time. When I brought my Griff there were loads of cooper green and Pale metallic blues around (Ocean Haze etc.) - both colours that I haven't seen on a new car for a while.

Yes when I specced my first Tuscan it was in Lambo Viola, so popular I've never seen another car in the same colour let alone a Tuscan

Imperial Blue is a fine colour, and very saleable. My Tuscan was on the lot at The TVR Centre for just two days before it went. It would look great on a 350. But not as nice as Formula Red, of course!

Be careful about tracker systems. Sunninghill are insisting (actually their main underwriter the RSA is) on a GPS tracker. Fit a normal one, loose your car and you could be looking at the middle finger from the underwriter when it comes to a claim. Be wary.

Delivery charges, I paid £730 which also included the road fund.
Are you considering a Tracker because of the insurance?
When changing mine I have moved from Sunninghill to Manning. Sunninghill, as already mentioned, requires a tracker. Manning were over £100 cheaper plus only require a tracker if the car is not garaged at night.
Manning's require a photcopy of your TVRCC membership card.
I have not fitted a tracker yet - still considering. Snazza who is fitting yours?

Thanks clunkclick (!)

I am waiting for a quote from Sunninghill but could do with a comparison from Manning. What's the contact number etc.? I am not a member of the TVRCC but intend to join asap (in fact I'll do that now).

Thanks for your help.

Incidentally, T350C on order now with aircon and due 5 weeks or so. Eventually went for Red Bull blue.

but surely when you are spending that much money on a car, the difference is really quite negligible?

Pearl looks so gorgeous surely its worth it?

I think it probably is worth it if you pick a nice pearlescent colour. Some 'pearls' look like a metallic and then £400 is a fair bit different.

Even Viper GTS blue is a pearl in price terms but it looks like a metallic.

Manning number is 01491 578759. Their a helpful lot, and they even answer the phone quickly - hope you have the same service. Lets us know how you get on.
Your memebership from TVRCC goes though in about a week and it well worth joining.

Thanks for the info. As I have posted on the other "Insurance" thread, I'm struggling to get cover for a new T350C. I'm 54, live in a low risk area, car garaged, garage alarmed and linked to house, only want social and domestic cover, prepared to be limited to circa 8k miles, want track day cover, full NCB. A Manning have quoted £820 but no cover for partner whilst Sunninghill could not get me a quote as I have (only) had Alfa 166, Jag X-type 2.5, BMW 328's, 330's and 325's as company cars and have no 250bhp plus experience. What am I doing wrong?
