Warning code 18 oil pressure switch????
Discussion
Today I had a warning code while driving in my Tamora. It said warning code 18, oil pressure switch. Does anyone know what this means? My oil pressure is around 50-57 psi, is that normal?. It would be nice to have a list or something in the Tamora manual that told you about the warning codes and what they meant.
Anyone know?

Hi Jay
I have had this and suggest getting it to the dealer fast.It was a head gasket and resulted in a new engine. The car was flying along and we had no other problems except this damn code 18 fault. It is annoying but phone the dealer in the morning and get it booked in.

I phoned the dealer they said not to worry it was probably just a electrical fault, but I must say I am still worrying, can you explain a bit more? Was your head gasket broken? How many times did you have the warning code 18? Could you see any problem on the oil pressure psi? Etc.
Anyone else know anything that can help, please.
Don't want to get a new engine

hi jay
The oil pressure actually stayed constant when she was warm, about 60-70 psi of the top of my head. The alarm usually went off every time when you first started the car but it did start to go off ever now and then when we drove her. we only got it into the garage coz we had a slight oil leak and had a bunckle wheel for them to sort out.
i have had a few problems with the engine, head gasket( which was so bad that they took the engine to Blackpool!), cylinder gasket and an alternator which also was buggered all after each other. If you get the car in soon they will at least get on top off it before it gets too bad.
Any more questions or would you prefer to hang yourself now.
i shall be at the VW meet this weekend if you wanted to chat
