Overtaking and reactions
Discussion
When overtaking other cars (not dangerously, but accelerating fast) I have been flashed a few times by the car that I am overtaking. There has been no danger at all, but I wonder if the sound of the TVR makes people feel that it is more dangerous and aggressive when overtaking than it is. I have another "normal" car and have never experience this when overtaking, only in the TVR. Anyone had any similar experiences?

Its merely there polite way of apologising for holding you up on the perfectly safe and open NSL road at 44.78mph. Likewise upon reaching a 30 limit urban area they thank you for your adherence to the limit via a neatly executed tailgate just to signify that you are the leader and they bow to your well manered sensible adherence to the limits as without your guidence they would have unwittingly continued at 44.78mph.

This is not solely a TVR phenomenon. When out in either the TVR or the Porsche I am commonly flashed after an overtake.
I have two explanations.
1) I believe it may be something to do with the shock as a car suddenly appears from nowhere. After all, they haven't looked in their mirror for the last twenty minutes so its going to come as a surprise. This shock (as I have previously described in another thread) causes muscle spasms. One such involuntary reaction seems to stretch the right leg accidentally depressing the accelerator into the carpet. I also believe it possible that the hands are affected too and this involuntary clutching of the hands accidentally pulls the control stalks towards the driver. Have you notice if the indicators flash wildly at the same time? Of course you will be too far away to hear the stereo dramatically increase in volume and the cruise control system engage. This of course might explain the flashing of the headlights.
2) They just don't like being overtaken: and its because they are to55ers.

Precisely! Frankly, as an ex-rust bucket connoiseur, nothing would have - (or did - frequently!) given me greater pleasure than something suitably thunderous, outrageously flexing itself, leaving me flailing in it's wake.
There are still at least 6 people in the UK who will doff their forlock and courteously encourage le passage of, say, a Ferrari.
Once again though, this is yet another issue making clear the imperative for a quick dab of neo-feudalism before the palaces of the mighty are fully overrun.
Imagine the look on the viages du numptitia were you to strengthen the impact of said overtaking antic with a brazen flame or two, pluming with flashing intent from your rear bazookas? Now that would cause consternation in the land of the Toledo Brain.
If I don't get flashed at least twice on every journey I feel I'm not driving fast enough. I'm sure it is the Numpties' way of saying they appreciate the howl of my exhausts as I overtake.
I am however confused as to the meaning of the handsignals given by drivers coming the other way, normally when I have returned to my side of the road some considerable distance in front of them and engaged warp drive
