Hi Guys,

I’ve been posting under the Cerbera and Tuscan forums over the last few weeks, in regards to the cars I’ve been looking at. I was at HexhamHC and speaking to Tony and he threw in the suggestion of a T350. I have to say I love the looks but can’t find much about performance and comparisons to a Cerbera (Tuscan is defiantly out of the picture for me now). Is it fair to compare the 2 cars? I would love to hear any advice you can offer.

Cheers The Gman

Compared to my Cerb the Tamora/T350 is very different, with the emphasis much more on handling and cornering ability than just raw power.

You'll find that the T350 is much easier to drive at low speeds with all the power coming in at high revs. In real terms I don't think there is much difference in the performance (i:e straight line speed) when you put your foot down, it's just that the power delivery is different.

As ever, my best advice is to drive them back to back and see what you like best!

Agreed,

The handling in particular is in a different league, the tamora being much better than the cerbera.

However there are a few people who have upgraded the suspension on the cerbera, I'm having mine done soon so I will be able to compare the two. Can't imagine it wil make it as good as the tamora but it should still be miles beter.

The only thing I would miss with the tamora/t350 is the noise, the cerbera with sports exhaust sounds great.

Rob.

My girlfriend is going to be driving which ever I get, and I want her to be comfortable driving it. I'm not worried about her driving skills, more about if she gets hassle from other drivers. Saying that, she has kerbed her Alfa once and I have to park it for her in multi-storeys. But on the open road I have to admit, she is not bad at all.

I don't think you do get any hassle from other drivers when you're in a TVR? All you do get is longing looks and questions from people who are genuinely interested!
Cheers...... Andrew

Well, once he noticed you were interested in buying a Tuscan, he ruled it out on the basis of it being an "old mans car"

I really do admire the looks of the Tuscan, and the one I drove was excellent. But I can not get away with the dash! I realised this when I went to HexhamHC and sat in a Cerbera and then a Tuscan back to back. The Cerbera just did it for me more. As soon as I sat in it, I loved it, to me it felt like it had more presence than the Tuscan, but that is just my opinion. The T350’s that I saw at HHC looked excellent. The image of what Christof’s would look like is brilliant. It is really a hard decision to make!

Agreed GMan, I fancied a Tuscan too but I couldn't live with that ridiculous dash. It's a stunning car in every way and maybe still the most beautiful looking TVR to date, but that dash... especially the pathetic rev counter that is virtually unreadable....

Chose the T350C because the cabin is very similar to the cerb, which is still my favourite TVR interior to date....

watch it boy racer! I'm still looking forward to seeing you lever yourself in and out of that little 350, did it come with a shoe horn?

agree about the dash in the Tuscan though, bloody shambles

Not sure why people keep banging on about the rev counter... Who the hell looks at it anyway?

You change up when the pod lights flash!

I do agree that it wobbles a fair deal at speed. It would be good if they fixed this and integrated the change up lights... And fit some anti glare glass...

And put a Frost Warning light on the dash instead of flashing on screen every 5 seconds! Grrrr..

Otherwise it looks concept car like!

I don't know why either. If you drive one day to day you'll realise it all works rather well. You remind me of my (retired) dad bless him, who doesn't like changing cars because the dash will look different and it takes him ages to learn where all the new buttons and things are.

hey I don't think thats fair, we buy TVR's because they're different, I would like to buy a Tuscan if I can.
My gripe is the poor quality of the dash, from the passengers side the pod looks ill fitting, has huge gaps where the stalks are and looks generally badly made, especially in a car with light coloured leather. The radio binnacle looks like an afterthought and is badly placed for the driver. If the car could be built witha Cerbera interior it would be perfect IMO

I think the radio pod looks good actually. I do understand about the gaps etc. Perhaps if they added leather like the gearstick surround then it would look better?

Probably the best TVR interior yet, an evolution of the organic style of the Griffith's cockpit taken to extream, which is what TVR are all about. Rich...

I've only ever sat in one Cerbera: at the Motor Show 7 years ago and I can still remember it - being in some kind of leather womb-like paradise looking through this letterbox affair in front. Everything easily to hand and agreed, a great presence and very snug.

Fantastic.

One day ...

Maybe at a PHeads meet I'll get to sit in another ...

I'm getting all the suspension upgraded on my Cerb too. The guys at the factory have said that its like driving a whole new car and the handlings a hell of a lot better. I'll be interested to see if it really does feel different. I'm also booked in for a T350 test drive so will try to be subjective about the two

Saying that though, on apprearances alone, the Cerbera has got to be the best looking TVR both inside and out !

To be fair I think both cars are great though....what a nice dilema to have !
